BREAKING NEWS: OK I know it's cinema awards season but who knew it could be so contagious. Delighted for all at @FrFilmFestUK past and present as well as dear friends in le cinéma français for all their support. They can share in the immense honour of the award of commandeur de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres bestowed by Rachida Dati, who recently has stepped own as culture minister to focus on the Paris mayoral race. Could not be more humbled not to mention super-chuffed. @screenscots @afglasgow @ifecosse @ifru_london @FranceintheUK @filmhubscotland @EyeForFilm @francediplo

INSPIRATIONAL and informative day out at @glasgowfilmfest where @filmhubscotland hosted their Exhibitors' Day with introductions and contributions from an array of cinema professionals among them Hub manager Ilia Ryzhenko; Festivals guru Diane Henderson; Manchester Cultplex creator Greg Walker; Camilla Baier from Invisible Women; Jen Skinner from Screen Argyll flushed with success at landing for distribution Michel Gondry's Maya, Give Me a Title (Maya, donne-moi un titre) featuring his young daughter; and Film Hub stalwarts Hanne Wyllie and Anna Ireland as well as @screenscots's Katharine Simpson and Sambrooke Scott. Still absorbing all the bubbling creativity in the room including working with young programmers, navigating festivals, and exciting new releases on the horizon. What more could any cinephile wish for? And thanks to the Byre Theatre's Jan McTaggart; Glasgow Short Film Festival's Matt Lloyd; Driftwood Cinema's Matt Kitson and French Film Festival UK's Sylvia Davidson for being such agreeable table companions. @CreativeScots Bonus points to Soul Food Sisters for appetising sustenance.

PRIVILEGED to have been given a sneak peek at a new book which investigates film studios in Britain, France, Germany and Italy between the 1930s and 1960s. During this time, studios faced unprecedented challenges including wartime disruptions, post-war fragmentation, movement of labour and the introduction of new technologies. Among the illustrious co-authors is none other than @FrFilmFestUK luminary Sue Harris who will be heading to the official launch later this month at the University of Bristol. COOL CALL: Gratifying to see that the critics agree with @FrFilmFestUK programmers who gave pride of place in the 33rd edition to Richard Linklater's heavily awards touted Nouvelle Vague now on release. Thanks to @AltitudeFilms for according the festival a premiere run around the UK last November / December. And who could forget the visit of cast member Benjamin Cléry for its Filmhouse Edinburgh screening (image Pako Mera). Now in cinemas - don't miss it. @ifecosse @ifru_london @Filmhouse @FranceintheUK @afglasgow @EyeForFilm @PakoMera

In these dark days when thoughts and energies are consumed by stats, paperwork, spreadsheets and reporting it's cheering for the soul to reflect on the warm reactions to last year's @FrFilmFestUK Feel free to contribute: “We've been delighted to have FFFUK back, thank you so much to you and the team for all your efforts. We had some very successful screenings here at Filmhouse!” - Venue manager “One of our regular customers told me our FFF screenings had motivated him to start taking French lessons again, and he has already contacted the local branch of the Alliance Française” - Venue Manager “Thanks again for all your help, guidance and very smooth logistics! It's always a highlight of the year for me to be able to host FFF UK screenings at our cinema.” - Manon Le Tual, Plymouth Arts Cinema “It's been the most successful year so far for this! Great numbers and great films!” - Caroline Hennigan, Nottingham Broadway “Charming, delightful and very French!” Quote on Le Grand Chemin at Comrie Community Cinema “Gentle humour and engagement with the whole issue of teaching, teachers, pupils and bureaucrats.” Attendee at Perth Film Society screening of A Real Job. I’ve just seen the exhibition at the Institut in Edinburgh. It’s pretty fantastic - Scottie Anderson on Cannes poster exhibition. Thank you for another great film [Colours of Time] - and for inviting Santiago Amigorena to our event. Everyone who made it really enjoyed it. Fingers crossed for Belmont next year although I was impressed with Cineworld. - Virginie Jégat of TotalEnergies. “J'ai hâte d'avoir l'occasion de revenir dans votre festival qui est vraiment exceptionnel! Bon courage pour la suite du festival ! I can’t wait to come back to your Festival which is really exceptional. Good luck for the rest of the festival.” - Actor Benjamin Cléry, Nouvelle Vague “We went to Pagnol’s The Baker's Wife and really enjoyed it!” Audience member at Institut, Edinburgh. “Thank you once again for allowing us this opportunity. We had a lot of fun with hosting and it was great to see healthy numbers on our first attempt.” - Exeter Phoenix “Happy to report that our audiences absolutely loved these films and quite a few of them came to both”. - St Andrews, The Byre @ifru_london @screenscots @filmhubscotland @Filmhouse @francediplo_EN @cgfEdimbourg @CreativeScots @FranceintheUK
