Here's another mystery object we're still trying to identify - what are these? We found more fragments today - some white, some black. Various suggestions have been put forward - giant pin holder, knitting machine part, etc - but we've never found an exact match. Can anyone help?

Today's mystery object. Does anyone know what these are? We've picked up quite a few from the north coast of Cornwall in recent days. About 1½" deep and 1¼" in diameter.

@LegoLostAtSea Just in case you didn't know, the pale mushy-pea coloured beads are glow-in-the-dark ones...

Another 1500 fishing beads gathered from tidal pools on the north coast of Cornwall. 1000 of these are being sent to artists who will use them in their work. Last year we posted 500 to an artist who very kindly sent us in return a Lego life raft from the spill she had found.

@PlanktonPundit When showing two separate classes of primary kids some plankton from Plymouth sound we found lots of plastic microfibres. The first group were finding many many red fibres, and their uniform had red jumpers. The other group wore blue jumpers and found many blue fibres.

So sad. Every inshore plankton sample I collect contains microplastic pollution. Yesterday's sample was no exception. The body of this dinoflagellate is ~ 50 µm diameter (0.05 mm). The plastic microfibre is ~ 10 µm diameter. (A human hair is ~ 70 µm.) The shocking scale of it. @Zeiss_micro
