@Rich_In_Syd Okay, if it is an M1 (or later) model then that should work unless it is not on Monterey or later (OS). If it is fully up to date on the OS then just double check it is an M series. If it is, this is what Gemini says you will need to do if it still refuses to wipe.

I need more Apple help. I have an iMac with Apple M1 Chip. I am giving it to my brother for my nephews but want to wipe everything on it first but cannot work out how to do that. I have signed out of my apple ID but is still showing my photos etc

@Rich_In_Syd It’s in settings. Go to Settings. General. Transfer or Reset. Erase All Contents and Settings. It works similarly to iOS now.
