There's one thing about the unprofessional public meltdown Allison Morris had this week which leaves me uneasy and I think needs to be addressed. Violence against right wing figures has crossed the line from empty internet threats to real life harm, it's less than a month since Ann Widdecombe was beaten to death in her own home. It doesn't take much to nudge an unstable man into thinking he's justified in attacking a woman, yet Morris casually announces on X that every gender critical woman is aligned with the far right, doubling down on the comments she published in the Belfast Telegraph. Using dehumanising language like 'dregs' seems a deliberate choice from someone who uses words for a living. It's a dog whistle which places a target on any woman who dares to say we have a right to single sex spaces, at best it's irresponsible but at worst it's deeply sinister. Both Morris and the Belfast Telegraph need to be held to account.

Countries have a right to control their borders and decide who enters, lives and works there…while still protecting those genuinely fleeing persecution. The real question is not about blaming immigrants. It is about asking whether political decisions are serving ordinary people. A united Ireland should mean unity among its people — not unity against those who question the direction of travel.
