If your dynamic effort workout lays more than an 45 minutes to an hour (lifting portion) you’re doing it wrong

Minimal effective dose is a great concept for training optimally but don’t use it as an excuse not to train hard. Athletes must be durable and be able to handle massive stressors without breaking

Bringing a ball that’s specific to your sport into the weight room doesn’t make your training “sport specific” the weight room is not your sport

I especially love it when a college strength and conditioning coach sends out a summer program with no warm up attached to it….

One of the dumbest things I see is when a freshman is going into a new college program and the strength coach sends them a strength and conditioning program with no context of who they are as an individual athlete.

Doing a lunge and a curl at the same time is a great example of a trainer seriously misunderstands the method of “full body training”

The number 1 indicator of future success in your sport is ownership over your own progress Ask questions Be curious Enjoy the process No one should want you to succeed more than you.

Starting training a month before the season starts is like starting to study for a test 30 seconds before the test starts

Effort is one of the few things we can always control, too often I see how someone is feeling that day controls their effort. This is the ONLY thing you have full control over. Get your head right or don’t complain when you’re not the athlete you wanted to be

Two training approach mistakes I see 1. Athlete does not want to challenge themselves when using heavy weights at of fear of being sore and influencing current performance 2. Athlete is too quick to progress in load, resulting in being overly sore Train optimally.
