Three typical trout from my Wharfe club water this afternoon. They tend to average 1-4 to 1-6 in my experience, with every chance of a 2lb fish. On the menu today were large brook duns with a few olive uprights also in the offing.

Slow day yesterday-2 small ones were all I had to show for a lot of walking until I happened upon this trout. I thought it may go 2lbs….turned out much larger!

Todays sewage report. 299 dumping sewage right now. 771 in the last 24 hours. No rain across England, just Water Companies potentially illegally dumping sewage. The @EnvAgency should be investigating every one of these operating right now. sewagemap.co.uk

@semperfli have to be congratulated for hosting such a fulfilling and informative day at Selby Abbey. Great choice of materials, some excellent tyers and 3 very good talks by Hans van Klinken, Feargal Sharkey and Beneath British Waters

Quiet day on the river was saved just after 5pm when I found this handsome trout rising regularly. It took my black Klinkhamer but didn’t have a lot of places to run to in the confines of its pool. At 2-14 it was close to the magic 3lb mark, but was a great end to a tough day!

Two trout from an otherwise very tough day with only small stuff on the fin and nowt of any note hatching. Generally the big trout were safe in their hidey holes. These two were the only ones of note that I saw rising.

I love fishing terrestrial imitations and last year I fished ants for the first time on a trip to Bosnia. However, clock the size of these beasts in the Black Forest….if only we had ‘em like this in UK!!

@RichardTong3 Sorry, I missed this Rich - I don't come here often anymore. I've not measured it yet and I'm away from home until next week (back in Bulgaria). Remind me if I don't come back to you.

A hatch of olives around teatime brought out some of the bigger trout to feed in the ultra-low water. This one was feeding tight to trailing willow leaves and took a Hackled CDC Dun: #Hackled_CDC_Dun" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">yorkshire-dales-flyfishing.com/dry_flies.htm#…

The amount of splattered flies this year is unreal. Car not washed for 4 wks, but probably represents 5 x 120 miles round trips to the river. Not seen the likes of this for years! Bring on the terrestrial feeders though there’s quite a number of upwings in this slaughter too!

One from a tiny shaded pool in a shrunken river on an APT, involving shuffling, crawling and cut knees on dry exposed lichen. Well worth it for the fireworks that ensued! Our trout are in spanking condition this season!

This fella was patrolling down the pool in bright sun and I took my eye off my fly to watch its progress, resulting in me losing sight of the fly. With some relief I tightened on the 3rd rise which I thought was possibly to my fly- it was! Lady Luck playing her part!
