What’s the deal with these idiots pretending that the shoplifting epidemic is anything other than organised criminal activity? There’s no one sitting around thinking ‘god I’m so hungry and desperate I must have a ribeye steak’.

@ret_ward So what.... it would create or save hundreds of thousands of jobs, increase the tax take, improve balance of payments and cut emissions from importing oil. No downsides unless you're deliberately ignoring all of the above.

One of the great wonders of life: the astronauts on Artemis II can make video calls with perfectly clarity and reception from halfway to the moon yet try to make a call on an Avanti train on the West Coast mainline at Runcorn and you’ll be lucky to connect by Watford.

Every 12 DAYS, China's carbon emissions exceed Australia's total annual emissions. Consequently, Australia's efforts to achieve net zero emissions would be offset by China's emissions in just two weeks. Net Zero is a scam of massive proportions!

Deep under the North Sea, in sites controlled by Britain, are around three billion barrels of oil/gas. That's worth about £165bn. Yet out of pure ideology, @UKLabour insists it remains there even while other countries drill. Labour: Ideology before Britain. newspaper.mailplus.co.uk/data/7603/read…

Now you’re just making things up. The EU does not negotiate gas prices as a block and has no influence on, say, the price of imported LNG. Nor does Norway, the biggest exporter of gas to EU countries, offer an EU block discount.
PAD@68PAD

By the way: I'm never going to spell Turkey as "Türkiye" unless I'm writing in Turkish. I don't write "Deutschland" or "中国" or "ایران" or "Magyarország." Turkey is Turkey.

A group called ‘Take Back Power’ is literally training people how to steal from luxury supermarkets between 20 April and 10 May. They boast about ‘liberating’ goods, ‘occupying’ shop floors and ‘redistributing’ the loot. Try calling it what it is: coordinated, pre‑meditated shoplifting – and the police and politicians are miles behind.

Harvey implies oddly that if something only adds 2% or less to the annual supply of an energy source in the UK, it should not be developed. Harvey may wish to check this test against… - All UK solar projects - All but 2 offshore wind farms - Future SMRs But we could build another Drax and burn more imported tree pulp.

@Dougmcg1 People stealing food to eat tend to steal sandwiches etc. Commonly stolen items for quick resale to fund drug habits often share the "CRAVED" characteristics: they are Concealable, Removable, Available, Valuable, Enjoyable, and Disposable.  Source: share.google/TXxc1UdKMxRAg3…

@g_gosden This exposes the failure of the education system, which appears to favour indoctrination and 'group think' over critical thinking, rather than anything else.

This. 👇 The powerful remain lobby - notably those who tried to stop us leaving post referendum - has never stopped playing their project fear game. Not only have we outperformed the EU’s biggest economy - Germany 👇- but UK exports to the EU are up by nearly 70% - not far off double what the EU has achieved with non-EU countries. Whilst we have sustained a stable share of world trade since pre-Brexit, the EU’s share of global trade has fallen by 15%. The failures of our own economy are home grown. High taxes, high energy costs and overbearing regulation have stifled growth - but in the last decade we have still grown more than any of the 3 biggest EU economies (Germany, France and Italy). Starmer has form on lying. Project fear was wrong in 2016 and it’s wrong in 2026. Don’t fall for EU ideologues lies. Check the figures for yourself.
John Redwood@johnredwood

Why do people put out lies about loss of GDP and trade from Brexit based on out of date wrong forecasts? The official numbers for trade and GDP over the last ten years show no Brexit losses, with the UK outperforming Germany for GDP.

Domestic fertiliser production capacity would be a strategic asset right now. Unfortunately, thanks to @DMiliband’s Climate Change Act - later driven through by @Ed_Miliband in 2008 - the UK no longer has that capability. Britain has a cost-of-Miliband Crisis!
David Miliband@DMiliband

The window to avert a massive global hunger crisis is rapidly closing. Must-read from the @guardian on the food security timebomb that will go off if fertiliser cannot pass through the Strait of Hormuz: theguardian.com/world/2026/apr…

Just got on the Tube and watched three young men walk straight through the barriers one wearing a balaclava. They had 0 shame didn’t even glance around to see if anyone was watching. They knew nothing would happen, and they were right. Meanwhile, the rest of us work hard, pay our fares, follow the rules, and end up looking like fools while some people walk straight through for free. But this isn’t just about fare evasion it’s about a BROKEN SOCIAL CONTRACT. Look at Broken Windows policing in New York in the 90s: after fare evasion and minor disorder were tackled seriously, fare evasion in the subway was CUT by about 75 % over five years.. Ignore these so called ‘minor’ crimes, and the bigger problems follow

The surest way to make us less competitive is to have our businesses regulated by a foreign power with no obligation to take our interests into account. I’d have thought this so obvious it required no further consideration.
L-inglizi@Cantwara_

@danielmgmoylan @CockertonMark What’s your angle? What do you gain out of making sure the UK cannot be competitive in any way, shape or form? Is there something you are not telling us?
