3 Jewish friends have been attacked by a gang of 20 men in central London for speaking Hebrew. The gang came up to them shouting ‘Are you Jewish?’ with one of the victims saying ‘Yes, I’m Jewish.’ Moments later the Jewish friends were punched in the head and neck while the attackers chanted ‘Free Palestine.’ One of the victims called the police 10 times in fear for their life with the operator dismissing their urgent calls for help saying ‘You are not the only one calling tonight.’ It took officers 28 minutes to arrive on the scene despite the incident occurring in the popular tourist area of Leicester Square, where police are always present. One of the victims needed hospital treatment after the attack. The attack took place around 1:30AM on Sunday morning and is now being treated as an antisemitic hate crime by the Metropolitan Police.
