I went jogging this morning in one of those treeless snout house subdivisions in suburban Oklahoma. This is what urbanists picture when they talk about how bland the suburbs can be

@dTXTransitPosts Denton uses roughly 75% of its water resources for lawn irrigation. In a way it makes reduction easier bc it’s a non essential use.
English

@dTXTransitPosts This sounds like a great thing to do over the span of a week or two, like pick a park a day and have a fun shirt out and back so there’s no death 🥵

Researchers at @UNTsocial and @KestrelPartners used tiny tracking devices to help learn the mysterious migratory habits of American Kestrels. This research can better inform conservation efforts like Audubon's Migratory Bird Initiative. audubon.org/news/as-americ…

@briggsfordenton @DentonGripes @cityofdentontx Aren’t they about to redo the crosswalks at these intersections for a diagonal cross option? Might explain the removal, though I hope they get replaced.
English

@DentonGripes @cityofdentontx do you know what's going on?

@josemmontalva @DrEMLichtenberg Ah, thanks Jose on info about the sub species. Someone on iNat had just tagged one of my xylocopa as the texas morph and I was curious about it
English

@DrEMLichtenberg @lopezuribelab @NashTurley @RichterBrand You will notice over here (South-Central) we have two subspecies, Xylocopa v. virginica the common eastern one, and a Texan morph Xylocopa v. texana. I observed that they have different phenology at least here in Oklahoma

For #PollinatorWeek we'll be celebrating beautiful diversity of #NativeBees
Here's a large eastern carpenter bee (Xylocopa virginica), they are sometimes confused for bumble bees but note the shiny hairless butt :)
