@jasonwhitlock Geno hurt women's basketball. The national championship is being played today, but where is all the attention? Look at all the division in this thread. All this because of a handshake. Thanks Geno. You may be on the Mt. Rushmore of WBB coaches, but your also a top 5 ass wipe.
English

I get your point, but I disagree. Geno embarrassed himself and UConn. He did not harm Dawn Staley. He made a spicy comment and moved on in the handshake line. Happens often. Dawn snapped and started talking about fighting. Triggered. No self-control. Violence or threats of violence not the proper response from an adult (or child). She had the option of letting Geno make a fool of himself all by himself. She didn't need to join him.

Why not apologize directly to Dawn Staley? Why not say her name?

@dogwoodblooms If you don’t have a junk pile are you even southern?
English

Let’s talk about your junk!
Actual junk, y’all. Don’t be pervs.
I have to know: does everyone in the South have a junk pile? And if not, what cliché do junk piles fall under?
Are they redneck? Hillbilly? Or are they simply country?
Bonus points if you have your own junk pile and you’re willing to show it to me!

@below77324804 @dogwoodblooms @JimmyC1366 The saving of gas cans with no purpose pushed into the neck category
English

@dogwoodblooms 🤔 probably moves me to redneck status 😂 but we have a burn barrel. We’ve been doing some spring cleaning and have piled all of our junk on the trailer to take it off to the landfill.

@RoyCooperNC As Attorney General, you failed to prosecute Crystal Magnum who falsely claimed to law enforcement that she was raped by 3 Duke lacrosse players. You let her go even though she at least committed perjury. She later killed boyfriend Reginald Daye. Way to go Roy.
English

It’s not fair for utility profits to go up while you pay more. As Attorney General, I challenged utility rate hikes in court for years, and I’ll take that same determination to fight for you to the Senate.
We need to make stuff cost less, not make North Carolinians pay more. cbs17.com/news/north-car…

This DoorDasher got a notification that the order he delivered to the hospital was never received by the customer so he went back to confront the lady.
He accused her of trying to get free food when he gave her the bag of items in front of other people. By her reporting that she didn't receive the items, the driver gets flagged as not a good fit for the company. After several reports, you lose your job.
The lady eventually admits she got the food and the driver wants her to make it right because he's trying to make extra money to feed his family. Do you think that he did the right thing by going back to confront the customer?

@JeffJacksonNC It's nice to see an AG in the courtroom and going after criminals for a change.
English

AGs almost never argue cases themselves, but when my team told me about this one, I volunteered.
The facts: A man struck another in the head with a pistol, then stomped on him, breaking his jaw and teeth and leaving him unconscious in the road at night.
That part is uncontested. He was convicted and didn’t appeal that charge.
But he was also convicted of robbing the victim of his wallet and phone - but the robbery occurred *after* the victim lost consciousness due to the attack.
So his argument, in short, was, “You can’t prove I’m the one who robbed him because he was unconscious at the time.”
My argument came down to this:
The window for someone else to rob an unconscious man lying in a dark road was narrow, and a reasonable jury should be allowed to conclude - as they unanimously did at trial - that the person who pistol-whipped and stomped the victim was the same person who robbed him.
Crucially, the defendant had actually done this before - he had pistol-whipped someone else and robbed them. And the jury knew that.
But the bigger point was the precedent.
If this argument stands, you’re telling every future robber in North Carolina that the smart move is to knock your victim unconscious first. Beat them badly enough that they can’t say who took their wallet, and you walk on the robbery charge. We can’t create that incentive.
Last week, the Court ruled in our favor. The robbery conviction stands.
My thanks to our team at NCDOJ who spent a good chunk of time prepping me for the case, to opposing counsel who did an outstanding job on behalf of her client, and to our Justices for their thoughtful engagement and tough questions.

@dogwoodblooms By comparison, particularly the Triangle, lets growth happen...the planning is pretty poor.
English

North Carolina politicians on both sides of the aisle love to tout that NC is among the fastest growing states.
They say we are attracting new businesses and sing praises to the fact that growth is booming our state’s economy - but they ignore what’s happening to their homegrown constituents and communities as a result.
So let’s talk about what’s really happening to native North Carolinians thanks to the population boom:
👉🏼 higher crime rates
👉🏼 loss of culture
👉🏼 traffic jams
👉🏼 dwindling farmland
👉🏼 strain on all resources
👉🏼 increase in taxes
👉🏼 environmental destruction
👉🏼 political polarization
👉🏼 population replacement
👉🏼 a business sector that prefers transplant, immigrant, and illegal employees
But why is that happening?
Could it be that developers and politicians are purposefully gentrifying our state to line their own pockets? 🤔
English

@dogwoodblooms Way of the world my Queen. I'm back in Phoenix after 28 years in NC. PHX/Scottsdale used to have a strong western culture...art...rodeo...horses. All that is gone. Is the quality of life better...it is. That said... I'm duly impressed by how the state has handled growth.
English

@BarstoolPack Typical State fan. The dog ate my homework and the teacher hates me.
English

@chanelcporter Wow...NC State fans finally get a truth teller.

Dear Transplants & Developers:
These trees emit a foul odor to attract flies, their primary pollinators.
Do not plant these stankin’ a$$ things in North Carolina.
The proper way to deal with the Bradford Pear is not to plant them. It’s to chop them down and burn them with fire.
Thank you,
The Locals

@latimes I'm grateful for what they have done. Remember, they didn't have to do anything.

Every year since 2019, the Dodgers have quietly renewed Andrew Toles’ contract so he can retain his health insurance while placing him on the restricted list so he would not take a roster spot.
The Dodgers have revealed that proceeding in this manner was no longer possible and the team is working with his family to figure out “how to best move forward.”
