Here's another video of a large "steamnado" on Lake Lewisville shared to us by Alex Abbe via Facebook. Scary looking but thankfully harmless! #dfwwx #txwx

Concerning the potential winter storm Friday into Saturday for N TX, here's a rough timeline. Also some of the things we are confident of, and some things where confidence is lower.

Heads up TX! Confidence is increasing in the potential for a significant intrusion of Arctic air and wintry precipitation toward the end of the week. Monitor the forecast closely and start thinking about how you can Protect the 4 P's: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants. #txwx #dfwwx

It's a renegade, moving to its own beat. Not sure what produced that little pocket of humid air at the cloud level, but it sure was isolated.

@RickMitchellWX on the morning of 9/8 in S. Arlington looking southeast, this was the only small cloud in the entire sky. In all directions this was it. What’s with this 1 cloud?

That was a severe storm with damaging straight line winds of at least 60 mph. No tornado.

@RickMitchellWX We live in Leonard. Can you tell me what went through here Friday night? There’s quite a bit of damage. Was it high winds? We have no Wi-Fi. I can’t get anything to load. Barely any cell service but not due to the storm.
