My joint statement with @LeaderJohnThune on DHS funding: We appreciate and share the President’s determination to once and for all bring an end to the Democrat DHS shutdown.   In the coming days, Republicans in the Senate and House will be following through on the President’s directive by fully funding the entire Department of Homeland Security on two parallel tracks: through the appropriations process and through the reconciliation process.   We appreciate that Senator Graham and the Senate Budget Committee have already initiated the process of developing a budget resolution that will ensure border security and immigration enforcement will be funded for the balance of the Trump Administration and insulated from future attempts by the Democrats to defund those agencies.   We operated under a belief that while our country is in the midst of an international armed conflict, Democrats might finally come to their senses and understand that defunding our homeland security agencies is beyond reckless and very dangerous. While we hoped they would accept the 60-day CR to fund the Department entirely so that bipartisan negotiations could continue, it is now abundantly clear that Democrats place allegiance to their radical left-wing base above all else — including their own power of the purse — which means open borders and protecting criminal illegal aliens. That is not acceptable to Republicans in Congress, nor is it to the American people. We cannot allow Democrats to any longer put the safety of the American public at risk through their open border policies, so we are taking that off the table.   In following this two-track approach, the Republican Congress will fully reopen the Department, make sure all federal workers are paid, and specifically fund immigration enforcement and border security for the next three years so that those law-enforcement activities can continue uninhibited. In return, Democrats will once again demonstrate to the American people their support for open borders and keeping criminal illegal immigrants in America.

@RandPaul’s “libertarian” foreign policy is dangerously weak. His consistent opposition to robust military might, skepticism of forward bases, and reluctance for decisive intervention will only emboldening adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran. Projecting American weakness rather than strength. The truth is, Rand Paul is bought and paid for by the same donor class that prioritizes slashing that opposes military support, and shrinking America’s global dominance at the expense of American strength bolstering adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran.
Cryptid Politics@CryptidPolitics

Rand Paul 2028 would be a joke. Marco Rubio gave him a dose of reality: PAUL: “We violated the Constitution, removed an elected official.” RUBIO: “We did not remove an elected official. We removed an unelected, indicted drug trafficker.”🔥

. @LeaderJohnThune has done more to destroy trust in the institution of Congress than any person in living history. If the "democracy" crowd weren't hypocrites, they'd be calling for the metaphorical tarring of Thune. But because our institutions want ideological iron fist rule to implement their own tyranny -- not actual consent of the governed -- they continue to love Thune.

🧵🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: A $15+ MILLION DOE contractor and NoKings protest organizer with active nuclear security contracts is on camera recommending a color revolution "how-to" 🚨🚨 His name is Steven A. Cash. Former CIA officer (Balkans, Clinton era). Under Biden: Senior Advisor to the Undersecretary at DHS Intelligence & Analysis. The day after Trump's 2016 election, Cash co-founded "The Steady State" — a network of more than 340 former intelligence community officials who decided Trump was an "existential threat". When Biden won, the threat was gone. Cash went into Biden's DHS. His own words: "we disappeared." Then Trump won again. "Suddenly the existential threat was back." The Steady State reactivated and is now a planning partner with NoKings. In the clip below, their meeting recommends "Bringing Down a Dictator" — the Otpor documentary about toppling Milošević — as "a how-to." Meanwhile, Cash's company Deck Prism LLC holds $15+ million in Department of Energy contracts. Almost every one: sole-source or non-competed. One is for the National Nuclear Security Administration — our nuclear weapons program — justified because "disclosure would compromise national security." His FEC records: 20+ donations over 20 years. 100% Democratic. Zero Republican. Including $1,001 to Kamala Harris on August 4, 2024, while his NNSA nuclear contract was active. I have the USAspending receipts, the FEC filings, and him on camera twice. As always, patience as I pull together the thread. 👇

At least 12 Senate Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, have said they'd support a clean voter ID bill. Today, they'll get the chance to vote for one. Will Democrats vote the way they talk?

Wow. We are definitely NOT being told the TRUTH about what is happening in Iran, and I think it is MUCH worse than just a handful of dead U.S. soldiers. The government aren’t being truthful, because the American public would likely revolt. For Iran to just come out and say something this earth shattering, should not be taken lightly.

@tnewtondunn Of course a suit with no combat experience would glorify a failed general. @StanMcChrystal is responsible for the deaths of so many service members, not because he led us, but because he failed us.

A fascinating answer from Gen Stan McChrystal to the NY Times on what he thinks about War Secretary Pete Hegseth's bravado culture. Worth remembering he commanded a green beret platoon, an airborne battalion and a Ranger regiment, before running Joint Special Operations Command.

Every combat arms GWOT vet out there feels the truth of these words. They hang heavy in the air as we reflect on the weak rules of engagement that forced us to place so many of our brothers-in-arms into body bags while the enemy remained insulated from retaliation. These are the generals InfantryDort is calling out. Your @StanMcChrystal that gave us “Courageous Restraint” the kind of restraint that gave the enemy the upper hand and cost so many American service members their lives. And now these same generals, men who cannot tell you what victory looks like because they never achieved it, want to speak out against anyone who demands exactly that.
InfantryDort@infantrydort

This will be the last thing I post today because I have better things to do. What confuses me about these generals is their visceral reaction to what most of human history would consider classic strength of purpose. Brute force if you will. Should every leader be like that? Of course not. But what's telling about these generals is their complete and utter revulsion at any other leadership style than their own. They are intolerant. And most know they're intolerant. The ones that look past it are those who've conformed to their way of thinking. What befuddles me is their absolute denial of the fact that millions of people respond well to the type of leadership they revile in Hegseth. They can't explain it because it doesn't fit nicely in their "MOPS/MOES" worldview. It is intangible. I'm just tired of these weak takes. I'm tired of these generals who go out of their way to appear "measured". They are the living embodiment of the 'proportional response'. They are self styled masters of limited war. That's why they scoff at terms like "unconditional surrender". Because they have never and will never be equipped to prosecute the type of war necessary to achieve it. No. They just refer to those of us furious after GWOT, growing up in the shadow of their inadequacy, as "potential war criminals" because we finally get to shoot back. Look, I'm not trying to be as mean as these bitter generals. I'm not. But I'm just so sick and tired of being lectured at about what war means from people who couldn't be bothered to win one. They couldn't win then. They can't win now. And they will try to take down anyone they can at some final shot at relevance. Because maybe if they can get that one last verbal jab in, they'll finally get that little victory that eluded them on the field of battle. This cohort of officer must be removed from the service almost entirely. Notice I said "almost". Because even I see the value in the occasional corporate GOFO. But if this department is to change for the long term, it must shed most of this archetype going forward. They should be the exception, not the rule. I will not be convinced otherwise.

Just was contacted by a big GOP donor wondering why the Senate would go on recess when the DHS isn’t funded & there’s no clear plan to pass the SAVE America Act. I hope our Republican Senate realizes: if you don’t pass the SAVE America Act, you will lose the majority.
