🎙️ This just in from Race Reporter Aces Bob! 🎙️ Ladies and gentlemen, motorsport fans, and speed enthusiasts—buckle up! The moment you've been waiting for has arrived. The interview with @ScottyGrove55 is here! 🏁 Stay tuned as we dive into the world of racing with one of its most electrifying personalities. You won't want to miss what Scotty has to say! 🔥 Let's go! 🔥 (Aces Bob) Getting Started on iRacing: What got you into iRacing, and do you remember your first impressions of it? Did you start with any particular series or cars that stood out to you? (Scotty) I'm from a racing family who have done just about everything in the dirt world of racing you could think of. From driving, crew, promotion and even track prep for 20 plus years. You name it, we've probably done it So the interest in Iracing has always been there. But it wasn't until right before the pandemic and right around the time of fall Martinsville 2019 that I came across the Flying Aces YouTube channel. I watched for a good 7 months before I decided it was time to give it a shot and see if it was as much fun as those two Ol' boys made it look. First impression for me was, "why the heck have I waited this long to get into it". When I started out, of course you run the street stocks, but I tended to lean towards ARCA. No yellow flags made those rooms a little bit more enjoyable than the typical Ipacing. To this day, to me. There is no car or era in NASCAR better than say 98-06. (Aces Bob) The Black Car Mafia: The Black Car Mafia is such a unique and well-known team in the iRacing world. How did it come together? Was it something planned, or did it grow organically over time? (Scotty) Well BCM is Terry Mustard Jr (The Colonel). I know for a fact the name of the team has a special place in Terry's heart and something he's very proud of with his Ohio roots. Pretty positive there was no master plan, and it just grew organically through Terry's sim racing and striking up friendships. I'm pretty sure it started with Terry and Rev Kennedy becoming good friends, then bringing in Rick Javorka. After that it has just grown, subtracted and grown again. Just like a real-world team, with the additions over time of myself, Doc Crieghton, Justin Sumner, Bobby Kennedy, Dave Crum, Nathan Smith and our late friend Chad Denton. It's really a great group of fellas. I'm very thankful to have made the friendships within the team and with the fellas that are no longer with BCM. They're still good friends and hopefully always will be. We're like brothers honestly, we rib each other constantly and love to call each other "scumbags". (Aces Bob) The @The_FlyingAces Impact: The Flying Aces have built a strong community within iRacing. From your perspective, how has the Aces' presence influenced racers or helped shape the iRacing experience for others? (Scotty) I'm honestly not sure I can put it into words what the Aces have done for so many of us. First off, thank you needs to be said especially to the Aces Wheelman. For myself, the Aces have been the starting point of so many friendships that would have never been if it wasn't for the channel. Not just my teammates but the entire aces community from folks in chat, drivers, teams like the boys over at Bawls Out, Elite, Diamond racing, DDM, Chrome Horn and even those Mayo lovers over at SSMS. It's an amazing place to hang out, race, wreck even get mad at each other. With JW making that possible. So many of us have learned race craft with the quality of drivers that typically enter a aces race nightly. I know myself; I've been able to take that and run really well outside my comfort zone in some quality leagues recently. The aces (JW) are also the reason I tried out streaming myself at Double Nickel TV as well. I honestly don't think Wheels and Outlaw know the influence they've had on the iracing community as a whole. I know for many of us without the aces or coming across the aces at some point in your sim racing career, the experience wouldn't have been half as enjoyable without them. As a viewer and a driver. There are rough patches, just like with anything in life. But in my almost 4 and half years in sim, The Flying Aces have been the most welcoming and influential bunch I have had the privilege of racing with. Thanks again. (Aces Bob) Memorable Moments: What’s one of your favorite memories or proudest achievements on iRacing—whether it’s a personal victory, a team moment, or something involving the community? (Scotty) Memorable Moments for me, would not really be the wins. I've had my fair share over the years. Seeing guys get their first Aces win is always pretty memorable as well. Honestly, again for me it comes back to the friendships and groups we race with. Some of my favorite times on Iracing have come from the special events put on by our fellow racers and JW. Some that come to mind are Nate Yarnell's Kansas events. Mean Dean Sprenkles full length shows from the early days of my aces career. I always say, "more laps, 100 percent fuel and limit those tire sets". Also, the memorial races for fellow racers we've lost, seeing the group come together in others time of need is always a good thing. But again, a massive thank you to the Flying Aces, my teammates at Black Car Mafia and to you AcesBOB for the interview. Be good y'all.
