@optimistic5518 He’s good so he will cost money and that’s simply not what this team does anymore so he’ll be traded for prospects that may or may not help in 5 years.

@SleeperNats Ownership hasn’t cared for awhile and Toboni is too politician smooth to assume any blame at all. He took a team that was struggling and made it even worse. I hate that he can pretend oh don’t worry the great times are a few years away.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the Dodgers. This is so so so embarrassing for the team and ESPECIALLY ownership. #Natitude

@federalbaseball Your comment is fair in the sense it will take years to know the true winner . I will say I was disheartened to see many experts say the Nats went for quantity over quality. Fein could become great but many writers were surprised by the Nats poor haul.

@RickyBlitt I disagree that he got fleeced in the Gore trade but the Mikolas signing was not great

@ThePoniExpress Why can’t they? If u don’t sign Geno there’s plenty of cap space and why in the world would u get rid of him w no one in the system who can do what he does

2 hockey insiders projected Anthony Mantha's next contract this summer to be 5 years, $30 million. AAV $6 million. There's no way the Penguins can make that deal.

@TalkNats @TalkNatsPodcast Also this is Butera’s irrefutably stupid move of the year - Mikolas gave up 9 homers at Wrigley last year and it would have been so easy to skip him for this series.

@RickyBlitt @TalkNatsPodcast All of this angst could have been prevented if this was covered after Thursday's game. Disappointing that they didn't discuss this in the postgame.

@TalkNats @TalkNatsPodcast I guess it doesn’t help that the Nats may be the only team in the league that doesn’t have a newspaper with a sports section. I canceled my Washington Post subscription immediately after that

@SleeperNats @TalkNats @SleeperMLB @NavyYardNats @starsstrikesbb I did see someone talking to CJ in the dugout after that. I’d make a statement and bench him for at lease 3 games. That’s such a showboat ego me over team thing and IMO 50 times worse than him being at a casino late at night late in a lost season.

Blake Butera has spoken in the offseason about holding players accountable. After CJ Abrams pimped a single and was thrown out at second… Should CJ Abrams be benched for one game⁉️ #Natitude

@SleeperNats I think we should be way more patient with Wood because Crews has not proven himself to be a star in any league he’s played in above college. Wood had a weak second half and is striking out too much but he already had a better season than Crews may ever have

@DistrictOnDeck @DCBerk That’s legit one of the worst rosters the Nats have had and it’s kind of amazing to see players like Chaparro and Tena still in the mix. Toboni brought in some pitching - but with Ford in the minors (he didn’t even end in the minors w Seattle) uh oh

@TalkNats I watched as Toboni nodded his head earnestly when Ryan Zimmerman said we needed some solid vets on multi year contracts and it’s two weeks past this pronouncement too. There have only been waiver wire pickups. I don’t trust the dude, he’s a little too politician smooth

From two weeks ago, a compilation from 2 interviews that Paul Toboni gave: "By no means do we feel we're set going into West Palm." "We're actively looking in that [pitching] market, and I think there's a chance we can sign a player here in the next week or two. But we will see how the market evolves for these players." (Interview clips from MLB Network Radio and 106.7 The Fan radio)

@FightinHydrant I feel the same way about missed free throws in basketball. Except those are from way closer. It feels more like a joyless superstition than anything else

Huge pet peeve…when a kicker misses a kick and high-fives and gently head-butts everyone. Go to the bench and feel shame. You missed the kick and that’s your job. All after your teammates just got in an 8-minute car accident to get you there.

@TalkNats If that’s followed by no veteran signing of a Bergman type than I hope Toboni knows how disingenuous or powerless he’ll come across as if none are added

@Miriam2626 Many men loved her for those very reasons. The type of men who would have been intimidated by those things are the type of creeps she never would have had time for but marriage isn’t for everyone. She was an absolute gem

Diane Keaton was too much for any man to marry. When you are that beautiful, talented, sweet and brilliant men are overwhelmed and threatened by this. But she lived her life in her terms. And my generation is grateful for this.

@granthpaulsen @Ryanclary11 The answer was good but what does it mean in actual, real terms? Does he have a manager in mind most known for that? Because otherwise he’s just a slick suit making a speech. He’s aware coaching people that hands on isn’t even part of his job right

Paul Toboni's answer to @Ryanclary11's question about the Nationals' identity moving forward was really good: "I want to dominate both the big things and the small things. When I think about the big things, do we want guys that throw hard? Yeah. Do want guys that hit the ball hard? Yeah. At the same time, we want to be best in the league at first-to-third, or cuts and relays being really efficient with our footwork, those small things. I think about the tag play all the time, I look around the big leagues and guys aren't dropping tags the way they should be, right? Those small things. I think about the contact play at third base, those type of small things I think we have to dominate. Yeah, we might not be bunting every inning but when you're called upon to bunt, you've got to get it down. For whatever reason, there's a narrative that's been built throughout the game that you either care about the big things or you care about the small things. My approach on that is we should dominate both."
