A most beautiful day golfing in the Curragh, while on the buggy, plenty of walking done, as you can’t bring a buggy in to the trees or jump fences, but all very enjoyable. The score wasn’t great either.

Fáilte abhaile, agus míle buíochas! ☘️ Soldiers are nothing without the support network of family and friends behind them! Having spent 6 months working for peace and stability in one of the most volatile regions in the Middle East, members of the 124 @irishpolbatt returned home yesterday to a huge welcome by those family and friends! #home #family #military #ireland #defenceforces #peacekepers

Remembering a Revolutionary On the anniversary of the death of General Michael Collins, Óglaigh na hÉireann paid tribute with a solemn commemoration and wreath laying ceremony. The event was held at the Michael Collins memorial in Cathal Brugha Barracks, and was attended by a descendant of General Collins; Mr Aengus Collins-O Malley. Mr Collins-O'Malley laid a wreath in remembrance of his forebearer, who remains to this day one of the most pivotal individuals in Irish history. Ar Dheis Dé Ginearál O'Coileáin 🇮🇪 The recently restored Sliabh na mBan armoured car, used on the day of his death, can be viewed in the Curragh Military Museum. Yesterday, the Gaelic Players Association recognised the outstanding contribution to her county by Comdt Sue Ramsbottom at the GPA Legends Lunch (Football). Comdt Ramsbottom received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her services as a player to Laois. Comdt Ramsbottom scored in All-Ireland Club final at the age of 12 and she is the youngest recipient of an All-Star award. From 1988 to 2003 Sue Ramsbottom tormented defences all over the country both on the inside forward line or dictating play from centre forward. During that time, she played in 7 All-Ireland football finals remarkably losing her first 6 before finally getting over the line in 2001 as Laois defeated Mayo by the narrowest of margins 2-14 to 1-16 thanks to a late free. Her consistently high level of performance also saw her earn 7 All-Stars with 3-in-a-row coming from 1988 to 1990 and then further awards in 1993 and 1994, and 1996 and 1997. Playing her club football with first the Heath and then Timahoe, Sue was also capped 3-times internationally by the Ireland rugby team. In 2020 she was ranked as the fourth greatest player of all time by the Irish Independent. Comdt Ramsbottom was instrumental in establishing Ladies Football in the Defence Forces with the first Representative series being contested in 2000. Comhghairdeas le Sue!!
