This is what economic decline looks like. In just 5 years, the income needed to afford the average home jumped from $52,000 to $93,000. Meanwhile, wages did not keep up. Rent exploded. Groceries exploded. Everything costs more. And an entire generation is being told to just “try harder.” Young Americans are not falling behind because they failed. They are falling behind because the cost of living is crushing them and the housing market is locking them out.
