Some fearless – and presumably bored – Guardian journalists have trawled through a remarkable 4,366 clips that the Reform UK leader has made for Cameo since joining the platform in 2021. Of course, the Guardian being the Guardian, they trawled through all of these innocuous greetings in the hope that at least some of them would be videos celebrating Hitler’s birthday, mourning the German defeat at Stalingrad, or sending Valentine’s Day good wishes to David Irving. Unfortunately for the journalists, they found no such thing. Instead of using a mother of 6 challenged children ( she receives £2,500 a month in state handouts) as an example of poverty in Colchester, Essex, the piece on R4’s Today would have made more sense if Amol Rajan had asked why she didn’t use birth control after say 3 of her kids were born with issues. I’m sure she would argue that she had the right to have as many children as she liked but surely we have the right to say we have the right not to pick up the bill for your decisions.

Today in #FMQs, Russell is absolutely right to call out Scotland’s staggering tax burden under the SNP. How can it be fair that someone earning £50k is £1,500 worse off than anywhere else in the UK? Hard working Scots are being squeezed while the benefits bill soars to £7bn on the SNP’s watch. This is not progressive. It is unsustainable. People across Scotland are right to have had enough.

The Government will collect £331bn in income tax this year, and spend £333bn on welfare. In other words, we now spend more on people not working than we raise from those who do. And the cost? Debt per person has risen from £11.5k in 2000 (inflation adjusted) to over £41k today.
