“New York is just different. It's so special.”
The Marković sisters are feeling at home in NYC. Being from Switzerland with Croatian roots, this is their first time playing in the U.S. and they’re loving their time at USL Super League side Brooklyn FC.
“In Europe, I had some incidences like me sitting in a restaurant, people just coming to my table,” Ana Maria Marković said.
“There was a weird guy following me every day around giving me gifts. So I haven’t experienced that here, and I appreciate that a lot.”
“New York is just different. It's so special. Also, we go to the city and we experience every time something new.”
“No matter in which part of New York you are, you feel like you're in a different place, you know?”
Meanwhile, her sister Kristina (Kiki) Marković spoke about their beautiful home stadium, which is located in Coney Island right by the beach and the amusement park.
It is a baseball stadium hosting soccer games, which makes it more unique.
“I like it a lot. Like, I love the atmosphere,” she said about Maimonides Park.
“The fans that we got, they're super vocal, and I really enjoy playing here.”
“I have to say, obviously, for me as a Swiss, European player, it's different, like, I've never been in a baseball stadium. So it is something that’s different, especially because of the baseball part.”
“I love the view, it’s so unique. After our last home game, we went to watch the sunset on the beach right there. It was so amazing, so beautiful.”
Let’s hope the sisters are here for a long time helping Brooklyn FC win trophies and making women’s soccer more popular in NYC.
