The last time I can recall a charge like this was in 2019 when Dale Thomas was referred to the Tribunal for calling boundary umpire Michael Barlow a "f***ing cheat". He plead guilty, unreservedly apologised, and was fined $7500. @AFLcomau

Zak Butters referred directly to the Tribunal after being charged with abusive and insulting language to an umpire. It is alleged he said to official Nick Foot: "How much are they paying you?" It wasn't picked up by the umpire's microphone. @AFLcomau
