@RingyRules @Hodgesberg I guessed that one right! It presents now a chance for the goalie to skate into the cirlcle and make a quick pass over the blueline to two of the players now in a 3-on-5 scenario. Player 3 can soon take her check somewhere for a skate - quick goal. #GoalieAssist #BOOM

I've been busy in the Ringette world, but I'm still here. There have been a few changes to the 2019-21 playing rules from the 2017-19 version. Send me your Ringette rules questions!

@Hodgesberg If the team in control of the ring has caused a shot clock violation, the non-offending team shall be awarded the ring. In this scenario, the penalized team would be awarded a defending zone free pass to resume play.

@RingyRules Delayed Penalty and ring possession/placement Q: Team PP has possession of the ring in attacking zone, team SH is getting a penalty. Team PP causes a shot clock violation thus stopping play. With the new rules, who gets the ring?

@vin979 The officials decision to call a penalty is subjective to many different items including: time & space for the opponent to avoid the stick, intent of the player, overall game management. ...2/3

@RingyRules two questions re tripping penalties: 1) If 2 players are racing to the ring, A1 stabs the ring and B2 doesn't anticipate the stab, and doesn't stop in time, then B2 skates over/through the stick off A1 and falls, is that a tripping penalty?

@kihossack The purpose of this account is for education of the rules. I choose not to comment on any videos submitted as referee make their calls based on their view of a particular play. I hope the rule I provided helps with your own judgement of the play.

@RingyRules what determines when a penalty shot is warranted?? This was at the end of a game in a tournament where goals for and against matter.

@kihossack 2/2...and a member of the defending team commits a penalty that prevents the attacking player from taking a clear shot on goal. “clear shot on goal” = no defending skaters between ring carrier and net, or in a position to impede their scoring opportunity, when shot is taken.

@kihossack This looks to be a breakaway which is covered by rule 19.2.a A Penalty Shot is awarded if an attacking player is on a breakaway in the attacking zone, with the stick in the ring, an no opponents to get past other thank the goalkeeper...1/2

@RingyRules So at the end of P2 penalty P1 would leave the box to make it 5 on 4, and P2 would leave at the end of P3 to make it 5 on 5. P3 leaves on a whistle. Thanks

@RingyRules play when her penalty expires. P1 must wait for the next whistle but for the other 2 penalties can they rejoin the play as their penalties expire if there are no whistles

Rule 11.4.b A goal is nullified if the ring is kicked or batted by an attacking player into the net directly, off the defending goalkeeper, or off an on-ice official

@Spbish While on skates, the stick can be no higher than the skater’s armpit when her arm is parallel with the ice.

@RingyRules Quick question, what is the legal length or position reference for a stick

@douglaspm_21 Having a free pass in the attacking zone following a penalty is a rule change for this season.

@RingyRules Was there a time when the ring was only moved one zone or was it always moved to the attacking zone?

@northgowerman More players committing boarding, body contact, charging, cross-checking, or elbowing, with initial contact to the head or from behind? “Reckless play” and slew-footing were added to major penalties.

@RingyRules Many more 4 Minute penalties now why is that ?

@northgowerman If a player attempts to play a ring, above her shoulders at standing height, with her stick while there are NO on-ice participants (includes referees) within a stick length, it is a violation. If she is within a stick length, it will be a penalty.
