@DirtyBeastGames @43Aagamer Oh that was game 2 with running forward one? I didn't play too much sonic to know which is which lol but definitely agree sonic is made for 2d side profile, and running fast. Poor sonic never had a chance in 3d gameplay and design wise. Hard to adapt like the other characters

@RisingSpiritVG @43Aagamer The first game didn't even have the back angle. I argue that Sonic looks better from the side than he did from behind in either Sonic 2 or Sonic 3&K since we're talking about the classics.

A character designed for 3D vs a character adapted to it. Banjo's wide stance, backpack/pants breaks up the space into distinct parts, his long nose that reveals when his head tilts to the side, clearly the silhouette from behind was more of a focus when Banjo was designed 1/?

This whole thread just shows me how much Sonic’s design was meant to be seen from a profile view on a 2D side scroller. His quills from the back view lack the iconic shape. That’s not the angle Sonic was designed for. This is why the 3D models are almost always “off”.

@DirtyBeastGames @43Aagamer Completely agree his silhouette changes and his model isn't as well designed for 3d. I love banjos look and boxy nature. Sonics legs are skinny but with the animation smears he doesn't look skinny in 2d Though didnt og sonic has a fake 3d section where you see him from the back?

@43Aagamer His first purpose was for a 2D video game. They had to adapt it to 3D afterwards and the translation was tough because of the spikes which only look cool orthogonally. They didn't have to address it in the 2D era though by using 2D cheats.

@characterwells Absolutely! It's such an undeveloped aspect with so much potential. We hope to set the stage for what gamers should expect from their story mode! It feels like we are making two games in one haha it won't be as big as Hallow Knight, but a mini one adventure RPG Zelda like :)

@RisingSpiritVG Heck yeah, fighting game story modes are underrated! My favorite is Tekken 3's Tekken Force mode. Mostly because of the guy saying "CHICKEN" when you picked up a chicken restorative. 😁 Looking great as it comes along!
