Syria's indirect parliamentary election is expected to take place soon in the last remaining SDF-held areas, but the behind-closed-doors arrangements have drawn controversy. Of the 10 Hasakah seats subject to election (out of 15 total, with five to be directly appointed by Ahmed al-Sharaa), reports suggest four are earmarked for Kurds: two for the PYD, the SDF's political wing, and two for the Kurdish National Council, the Syrian Kurdish grouping backed by Iraqi Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani. Ten Syrian Kurdish parties have responded by accusing the Syrian government of excluding them and contesting that the allocations fall well short of Kurds' actual demographic weight in Syria. The distribution reflects deliberate calibration. Even in Hasakah, the province with the heaviest Kurdish concentration, Kurds receive only 40% of seats, ensuring they fall short of a majority in any Syrian province. In Kobani, where two seats are contested, the split is likely to follow communal lines, with one seat expected to go to Arabs and one to Kurds, reflecting Arab demographic dominance across the relevant subdistricts. In Afrin, where elections have already concluded, all three seats went to Kurdish candidates, including one member of the KDP-S. As our October report argued, however, even perfectly free and fair elections would give the SDF and the Druze of Suwayda little structural incentive to participate. Based on the district-by-district seat allocation, Kurdish factions, SDF-aligned or otherwise, would at best secure around 15 to 17 seats, roughly 7% of the total. Suwayda holds only three of 210 seats, around 1.5%. In such a configuration, both would remain marginal minorities in a parliament that is itself unlikely, at least for now, to exercise meaningful influence over the presidency: thenationalcontext.com/syrian-parliam…

Abu Suhayah al-Rumi 🟥B.O.L.O 🚨Who's running the ISIS Military Council? His name is Abu Suhayah al-Rumi. It's the fact that this role is incredibly important. It's not like symbolic. He's not like the prince or the king. He is the head of all operations for one of the most powerful terrorist groups in the world and the majority of people in the world don't even know who this person is. They don't know his name, they don't know his face. SOURCE: @The_Watch_Floor "I want to explain to you something that's going on in ISIS though that's very interesting." @sarahadams 🗣️ "So, now I've said his name, okay? It's Abu Suhayah al-Rumi, the name is out there, and Sarah Adams said he's the head,of the military council in 2026. We'll show you his face. But again, this is an effort by ISIS to rebuild their centralized military coordination and then that coordination, of course, improves operations across all the groups and then that becomes a bigger threat to all of us, right?" Abu Suhayah al-Rumi 🟥 2026 ◾️... if this name gains steam, they'll do one thing, which is usually, some sort of operation and accident, and now Abu Suhayah al-Rumi 'dies. Okay? But he didn't die. ◾️" Then they'll give him another alias. So, Abu Suwayb right now has a handful of aliases. I don't even know all of his aliases cuz they keep turning them over. So, next year when we say the name of the head of the military council, it might be the same guy. But, it'll be a different alias.

🟥 ISIS reestablished It's Military Council That Connects Leadership To Battlefield Decisions After Years Of A Fragmented Command Structure. "What they're calling it internally is the Majlis al-Shura al-Askari. So if you hear that terminology, it's not a new element within the group. It's just the reestablishment of the military council." ◾️"As a title, you might wonder, "Okay, it's a council. So what?" This is their central war planning capability. This would be like the Joint Chiefs of Staff in our Department of War. This is like the command core. It's the structure that connects leadership to battlefield decisions." - Sarah Adams ◾️"This isn't just some administrative layer, in this organization. This is the group's operational brain And when we say operational brain, that's attack planning. So, this is the structure that historically handled approving operations including external operations in the United States, assigning commanders to specific roles and regions, coordinating among the different provinces and then setting the military priorities for all the regions and having a real operational mission for the entire group." - Sarah Adams ◾️"ISIS realized we have to move away from the scattered provincial activities and get back to a synchronized command. And this is a major structural shift back to how we saw ISIS ran their caliphate. When ISIS gets coordinated, we see coordinated attacks. They can do attacks in three different regions at three different times. That's incredibly impactful when you're a terrorist group. You know, not just from the fear factor, all the press, but that level and scale of an attack brings in a ton of financing for the terrorists, right? Because it's like, oh, ISIS is back on top" The Watch Floor 🟥 @sarahadams youtube.com/watch?v=5vy-88…

The foreign fighter question in Idlib may be the most underanalysed risk factor in Syria’s current transition. What’s unfolding there isn’t a localised security incident. It’s a recruitment crisis in the making, and ISIS is watching it closely. 1/12 🧵

In #Syria 🇸🇾, you can hire the following for only $300 USD 💵 per month: 1.) A full time armed security service personnel (ex-rebel). 2.) A full time maid that lives in your house (cooks, cleans, babysitter) 3.) A full time driver. 📌 Between the maid and the driver all your shopping 🛒 can be delegated. 📌 So, you can basically live your life on complete autopilot for less than a thousand dollars 💵 a month. Absolutely wild! Geo-arbitraging is the way 😉👌💵

I have mainly been eating meat 🥩 in #Syria 🇸🇾, and the experience has been phenomenal. 1.) Compared to the west it's extremely cheap, this amount only cost me ~$8 USD 💵. 2.) It's far more flavorful than what I'm used to in the west (no hormone injections 💉 etc.) 3.) I still eat carbs, and I feel fuller far quicker than in the west. Eating a fistful satiates me for the whole day basically. 4.) I only desire to eat one meal a day. 5.) My gut health is at an all-time high. 6.) This is the first time in my life I feel like I've been fully detoxed. 7.) Once you eat truly healthy food, you simply cannot go back. 8.) Fruits and vegetables are far more flavorful and nutrient dense. 9.) My skin has become crystal clear. 10.) I have far more energy ⚡ and I no longer crash and get randomly sleepy throughout the day. 📌 You must come to Syria 🇸🇾 habibi! 💚

What are the hidden aspects of the secession project in As #Suwayda? An investigative documentary examining the political, military, and criminal dynamics surrounding a separatist project in #Suwayda, a province in southern #Syria predominantly inhabited by the #Druze community. Origins of the Separation Project The investigation traces the roots of the secession project back well before the violent events of July 2025. Following anti-Assad protests that erupted in #Suwayda in 2023, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, who had long been a regime loyalist, surprisingly aligned himself with the protest movement, though without fully challenging Assad. Around the same period, the Liwa (Brigade) Party, founded in 2021 by Malik Abu Al-Khair, began promoting a vision of self-administration modeled after the SDF in northeastern Syria. This party faced significant rejection from within the protest movement, with many viewing it as a vehicle for sectarian separatism rather than national reform. #Israeli and External Involvement The investigation reveals deep and longstanding Israeli interest in establishing a separate #Druze entity in southern #Syria. Documents dating back to 2014 show that Israel had already approached Suwayda leaders with a secession proposal. A leaked 2011 Syrian security document states that Sheikh al-Hijri received $15 million and weapons through an intermediary in exchange for supporting #Israeli interests. After Assad's fall in December 2024, #Israeli helicopters reportedly conducted at least fifteen airdrop operations delivering weapons and equipment to #Suwayda, with the Military Council led by Colonel Tareq al-Shoufi identified as the primary recipient. #Israeli figures such as former minister Ayoub Kara openly promoted the creation of a separate southern Syrian state. Additionally, the #SDF was also identified as a significant funding source for armed groups aligned with al-Hijri. Security Structures and Criminal Networks The investigation uncovers how the security apparatus built by al-Hijri incorporated remnants of Assad's former military and intelligence apparatus, including officers wanted for wartime violations. Simultaneously, pre-existing drug trafficking networks, which had made #Suwayda a key transit point for #Captagon smuggling into #Jordan and the #Gulf, were found to have restructured themselves within the new security bodies, with several prominent traffickers identified inside the National Guard's security office. Drug production reportedly continued and even expanded, with Captagon factories, marijuana cultivation, and crystal meth distribution documented within the governorate. Escalation and the July 2025 Events Sectarian tensions escalated through early 2025, fueled in part by a leaked recording of a man insulting the Prophet Muhammad, which was deliberately spread to inflame divisions. When community leaders sought to de-escalate, al-Hijri refused to cooperate, and he actively exploited the tensions to advance his political project. The violence peaked in July 2025, prompting Israeli airstrikes targeting #Syrian state forces, while coordination rooms linked to al-Hijri's circle and Israeli #Druze figures reportedly directed operations on the ground. Following the fighting, al-Hijri formally announced the separation project. Suppression of Opposition The investigation documents the intimidation and silencing of voices within #Suwayda who opposed the secession path. The most striking case is that of engineer Karam Mondher, who was actively working to bridge the gap between #Suwayda and the #Syrian government in #Damascus. He was lured into an ambush and assassinated in July 2025, with accusations pointing to individuals loyal to al-Hijri. His home and those of his relatives were subsequently burned. The documentary concludes by questioning whether the secession project truly reflects the will of Suwayda's population, or whether it is being imposed by a convergence of local power brokers, external actors, and criminal networks pursuing their own interests.
