The poster goes on to say she hates this because “it’s sexist and it makes Harley look like a stupid prostitute.” But Harley IS a stupid prostitute. And it’s not sexist to point out that some women, particularly damaged women, get ahead by using their sexuality. If this person weren’t being myopic, they’d realize it says something pretty disgusting about the men that give into such simple manipulation as well. Harley is prostituting herself, yes… but men that should know better and are supposedly pillars of the community are being DUPED by a prostitute. And then Harley, the manipulator, meets an even better manipulator in The Joker. Tale as old as time. As you sow, so shall you reap. Just because a later generation of empty-headed ninnies decided “Harley is me!” and chose to hold her up as if she was a role model doesn’t change, or even invalidate, what her creators intended her to be.

I think you can enjoy a video game to a certain level without playing it, such as liking the vibes/characters But understand your opinion on the game holds less weight than those who’ve played it and when you complain about things or want them changed, you stand on weak ground

There’s nothing wrong with watching games on YouTube. As long as you don’t claim to be a fan. You don’t get to be a fan of something due to pity for your financial situation. We’re not creating fandom equity. I’ve been on the poorer side my whole life, any game I’ve watched on YouTube I don’t claim to be a fan of. To be a fan of a book, you have to read it. To be a fan of a movie, you have to watch it. To be a fan of a game, you have to play it.

The issue isn't so much that people who say they like RE aren't playing the games. It's that you have people who are comparing themselves to longtime fans who have played multiple entries, by watching Youtube videos. And for what? To wear the "gamer" label when you don't game?

Confession: I tried the original and it just wasn't my cup of tea, but I really do like the lore and the CGI movies. The only game I have in my collection is The Darkside Chronicles on Wii (beat it and got the good ending). But calling myself a huge RE fan feels disingenuous.

As much as I love the fact that there's a lot more Virtual-On in my feed lately (gee, I wonder why), the translations could use some work. It translates "Virtual-On" as "Virtua Fighter" and I just saw a post that translated "Virtuaroid" as "Vocaloid". Smh

@JeanGen09181213 Personally I'm not a fan when most games try to pass themselves off as original but then say "play this game that was inspired and also looks like _" I get people making what they love but I guess my design philosophy is "How do you make it unique or different?"

True. There's no such thing as an original idea. At the same time, a line has to be drawn. Where/how do we define the difference between inspiration and copying someone else's work?

@RkdRaider41 this movie used a mixture of 3d and 2d visuals for it's scenes which impressed me just as much as 3d, maybe more so since 3d movies at the time didn't have much of a style back then

A bit of a jaded take, but typical moviegoers probably don't appreciate the craft as much as they want to be entertained. After Pixar took off, people were more fascinated by 3D effects, and many 2D animated movies didn't fare as well or have the same impact they once did.

@supercollider_x They do, and I think that's actually a great reason to take the risk again. I just remember when 3D animated movies took off, 2D movies didn't do so hot and fell out of style, and people seem to be in denial of that.

@Miles90234527 I agree. I was actually excited when Paperman was released and hoped it was a return to illustrated styles, then nothing happened. And lately, 3D styles are being criticized for looking the same. It's just convincing someone to take the plunge when they're still in safe mode.

@RkdRaider41 I think this theory needs to be properly tested again in the US. It’s been over a decade since a proper hand-drawn feature, it’s past time to try again, and I mean ACTUALLY try. That means release at a good time (not next to a big release), market properly, and craft quality
