In 2029, Apophis, a ~370m asteroid, will pass just ~31,000 km from Earth.
That’s ~1/10 the distance to the Moon.
Inside the orbit of geostationary satellites.
Visible to the naked eye.
Impact risk this time is low, but the flyby could shift its future trajectory.
A direct hit would mean a ~1 km crater and regional devastation.
That’s why becoming multiplanetary matters.

Liftoff.
The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon.
Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.

We're going around the Moon. Come watch with us. Artemis II's four-astronaut crew is lifting off from @NASAKennedy on an approximately 10-day mission that will bring us closer to living on the Moon and Mars. The launch window opens at 6:24pm ET (2224 UTC). twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

Incredible that it was only 66 years from the first controlled, powered flight to landing on the Moon!

Here’s a video showing how I captured @BlackGryph0n transiting the sun during free-fall. I still can’t believe we pulled it off!

Comet Lemmon Oct 29 2025
I took this single frame photo and did a little massaging of the image with my phone.
The streaks are two satellites that crossed in front of while the photo was being taken. #cometlemmon

I had a thin enough layer in the clouds tonight to be able to see Comet Lemmon (C/2025 A6) through them. It was a fleeting view, but it’s always a treat to catch a comet!

@_Beahmer_ @crazyclips_ Exactly. As a mom (or dad), it can be easy to lose the time to do things you once loved. Looks like she was about to win, and the father could have put them after the finish line and they could have had an amazing reunion there

This Fourth of July, let us reflect with gratitude on the extraordinary nation in which we are privileged to live in. The Fourth is not just a celebration of our independence. It is a celebration of the enduring principles that define America: liberty, the rule of law, the pursuit of happiness, and the courage to strive for a more perfect union. These ideals have guided us through times of trial and triumph alike, and they remain our compass today. Happy birthday, America 🇺🇸
