@bunsenbernerbmd On the left, our Spaniel who had 1 eye and on the right our Border Terrier who had a leg amputated because of cancer, both with enormous hearts. Sadly both have gone over the rainbow bridge and I miss them every day

@WalesOnline They didn’t poll me, in 2nd gear at 20MPH I have high revs, burning more fuel , more emissions and could damage my engine, 12mile round trip doing 20 mph every opportunity I do more than that to get into 3rd gear , 10 mph in 2nd gear is ok but that is a no no

@Thecarhoarder Just to add onto your point about 450 being useless as a personal street vehicle…. I strongly believe that anything over 200 brake (in the UK anyway) should require a further driving assessment, which would certainly cut down on 17 year olds crashing obscenely powerful cars

Anything with more than 450 Horsepower is useless as a personal street vehicle. EVs should focus more on simplicity and range than power and features. You do not need a suburban for two kids. A Honda Ridgeline is more truck than 80% of us will ever need. Less wheel more tire.

@Carpervert I generally have more respect for someone with an estate versus someone with an SUV. You’ll never see an XC70 being driven like a twat, unlike newer Rangies and Touregs (which I suspect have been adopted by the 500 and Adam crowd)

Shall we? Read the thread. I think it's important to really prompt people into thinking hard about what cars they buy, and what cars suit them. I want to help reduce SUV consumption, largely because they do so few things well, and have basically reversed automotive evolution.

@v8oholic That was my first thought when I got the letter but I've never shown photos or video of my Rover with the vehicle reg on display. It's been sitting in my garage for 8 years on SORN and even when it was in use, the car never went near London. Have contacted TfL. Awaiting a reply.

Considering we live 75 miles from London, haven't visited London, haven't driven in London (Rover GTi has been SORN'd for over 8 years), I find it strange that TfL have sent out this letter advising us that our 1992 Rover 216 GTi won't be ULEZ compliant for the expanded zone.

Bells and whistles for lazy drivers come in small cars.
Electric isn't viable for many now & you don't need electric to use the motorway.

@david_mccraw Why the hell would you want to go over 60 in an SUV anyway? The Jeep we have (which I hate, by the way) feels incredibly unstable at that speed! Plus you can definitely fit as much stuff in an estate (like my Superb) and you won’t look like a raging bellend
