@SecretDJBook @MojaxxDJ Well, of course I can’t speak for every set but the 4 or 5 times I’ve been there at festivals in the last year or 2 it’s been 100% legit. I watch closely, I’m a nerd in that way 😂. Also got a good peek at his tech riser before it got rolled onto stage, simple but cool setup.

It's a tough one this as he is a genuinely nice bloke but this issue has spiralled out of control from something pretty outrageous to absolutely standard in EDM circles. Look, we get it. You 'have' to do prerecorded sets to sync with the bangers and glitter. And even highly credible acts like Chemical Brothers do it too. This thing is, he tells us that there are cameras to tell the visual guys what is playing, and we can see the cameras are plugged in, yes. But we can also see the audio gear is not plugged in at all. Don't play us for fools dude. This image isn't online or tampered with its from a fan who couldn't believe his eyes and sent it to me. I could only reply that I knew already for many many years and indeed had already mentioned it without naming any names in my books. And you know what? There's at least one if not two generations who just don't care. A few of you will be reading this going 'so what?'. Norman was arguably always ground zero for EDM. A clue is that he was always popular at Manumission, possibly the first global EDM brand. A place where spectacle was more important than art by design. This extract was about him. And in the modern world, with its many cognitive dissonances, it is possible to be a nice guy AND also part of the problem. It's a complicated world we live in now. Nothing is what it seems. My books aren't about me, they are about a life lived entirely in the music business. And it is a very strange place that only ever seems to get odder and odder.

@SecretDJBook @MojaxxDJ Audio outs from the CDJs aren’t needed with the USBs. Looks like you can see XLRs going to the mixer which is all he needs here. I’ve watched him play a few times fairly recently from side stage, he’s not faking.
