@ClimbingCoachX Are you aware of the English climber John Dunne? Famous for being 1. Ballistically strong 2. Kinda chubby.
He was at a steep crag in Spain, uncoiling his rope under a 7b. A Spanish climber stopped to point him towards the 6s. John thanked him and climbed the 7b footless.

One time I was working at a climbing wall when the high school football state champions came in for a group party to celebrate their season.
I got to watch 50+ athletes — all of whom had been lifting and training all season — struggle to climb a 5.10a. Fewer than 5 even made it to the top of the wall.
As their event wrapped up, they got to see a 14-year-old girl warm up on the same route.

P.S. To further stir the pot: While benching a big number is impressive… Strength is not fitness. Strong enough is strong enough—beyond that it’s better to focus on staying lean and mobile. If you want a good laugh, take a meathead to a climbing gym, where you need bodyweight/grip strength, endurance, power, balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.

@ClimbingCoachX There's a route a bit like this in the Peak District (Bamford). Nowhere near as hard, but the route description goes: 'Leap gymnastically from break to break, one of which may be your ankle.'
