@Mark__Lawrence Keep going regularly and you'll improve really quickly. The biggest hurdle to climbing harder is pure finger strength and that takes time to develop. But, on the plus side, once you've built it up you'll keep it!

Tried 14 blues and managed 13 of them. Purples ... only two. Still, not bad for a newbie at 60.

@AuthorGoodwin If I add in the fee I got for co-writing a D&D handbook for a games company I am, as of recently, in the black. But just, like...barely.

I made the mistake of adding up how much I've spent on editors, covers, websites, marketing, subscriptions... Bad idea. Very bad idea. 😭

@ClimbingCoachX May be because of the nature of the sandstone - it's got a touch 'skin' but it's soft underneath. You might just rip out any gear you get in the crack. 🤷‍♂️

@JoelCrumbley I have a specific pen and specific format of pad that works for me. I can sit with my phone out of reach and focus. I'm a bit of a plantser so I usually start with a vague outline then see where it goes in terms of chapter breaks. Otherwise, it's just the same as typing.

@RobSanders56 Aw man, I'd love to hear any pointers or tips. Do you outline?

I’m annoyed now. But genuinely, if you’re the type to just limit or cease your interactions with people who were your friends when you were a small author the moment your popularity starts to increase, maybe take a long look in the mirror.
