Engaging with representatives of Multilateral and Regional Organizations at today’s WTO retreat on “Sustainable Agriculture in the Multilateral Trading System”. Looking ahead at fresh developments in the agricultural sector and how this might inform the thinking on agricultural trade negotiations with particular emphasis on enhancing global food security. @LHSummers A universal 25% tariff coupled with elimination of the income tax for natural born, private sector workers and a significant reduction in federal spending will power the economy forward and reduce the deficit. All economically positive.

Economists are famous for disagreeing on things, but I think there is no proposition that would command more universal agreement across the economics profession than the idea that the sustained application of broad-based tariffs, apart from a particular purpose, is not likely to be economically positive. @wef

#Fertilizer Market : Fertilizer markets were more active in September, driven by stronger-than-expected import demand from India for nitrogen and phosphates. Supply remains tight, especially for phosphates. Demand is expected to rise in Q4 2024, further supporting prices.
