Just remember that Arne Slot inherited a squad assembled by a legendary manager. Arteta took over a club that was rotting from within and going nowhere, he turned us from eighth-placed finishers into title contenders, he made our club relevant again. Mikel Arteta actually did sign a world-class striker. Take me back to July 2022, man. Gabriel Jesus was one of the best footballers in the world, us Gooners were over the moon. At the time it genuinely felt like Manchester City had handed us a world-beater on a silver platter - one that didn’t even cost that much! £45m seemed like an absolute steal. Jesus wooed us with his mind-boggling performances in pre-season and the start of 2022/23, appearing a transformative addition for a burgeoning team on the up. Then the World Cup happened. That knee injury sustained in Qatar shattered our world. Gabriel Jesus has not been the same since. Sure, there have been glimpses and brief upsurges in form, but the Brazilian has had setback after setback, and whenever he does play, he looks more like a player City were willing to dispose of as opposed to the demonic forward they accidentally handed us. We have to unfortunately move on from Jesus in the summer and sign a world-class striker like Benjamin Šeško or Alexander Isak. It’s absolutely necessary and essential for Arsenal’s progress.
