I love Woolf, and To the Lighthouse and Mrs Dalloway are some of my favourite books of all time, but she was very much a rich person born into a rich family and her classism seeps through in her works, and here.

@Rob_W75 @ForteanK @gtredoux @BretVDB I love Woolf, but this is an unambiguous case of British racism toward its colonized subjects (Joyce is writing Ulysses during the Irish revolution). The idea that a working class Irish person could have written the greatest English-language novel would have been unthinkable.
