Little consolation to Nottingham Forest but at least PGMO has acknowledged the referee was wrong to allow Matheus Cunha’s goal for Manchester United after Bryan Mbeumo clearly handled. He trapped the ball, controlled it. VAR intervened, encouraged the referee to look at the monitor and consider overturning his wrong decision, but the referee stuck with his decision. VAR was not the problem. VAR recommended the goal be disallowed. Fortunately, there was nothing riding on the game. Otherwise, the game could possibly have been looking at a legal dispute.

I understand the emotion around a huge penalty decision in a massive game. Football does that to people. But at some point emotion has to give way to evidence. When freeze frames, angles and clear contact are sitting right in front of us, denying it because it doesn’t suit your team or narrative just kills any honest debate. What’s even worse is when professionals and pundits, who know the game inside out, deliberately drive a narrative to suit an agenda rather than analyse what’s actually in front of them. That only fuels tribalism and misinformation. You can debate consistency. You can debate interpretation. But you can’t just ignore unrefutable evidence because it’s inconvenient. Football discussion is far better when honesty matters more than point scoring.

@StatisticUrban The idea that fields are "empty" is a very stupid one. They're where your sustenance comes from. They're worth a lot more to us than whatever pointless monstrosity would replace them. Also, there's more than enough of London already. I'd rather have more rural England.

Here's one example of how utterly insane British planning and building is: this is a tube station 35 minutes away from the City of London, the financial capital of Europe. Most of the surrounding land is farms and empty fields.

It’s not a must for you to agree with me, but if you watched Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest, you would agree that Victor Lindelöf was everywhere on the pitch. The guy played very well in midfield in his first game playing there. He is known as a defender and sometimes as a right-back, but Unai Emery decided to use him in midfield after Onana got injured. Honestly, he performed brilliantly. He was defending, recovering the ball, joining attacks, breaking play, and making tackles. Meanwhile, Elliot Anderson — the player Manchester United want to sign — was struggling badly. What made it even more special was that when Lindelöf got substituted, the Aston Villa fans gave him a standing ovation. Anderson was almost nowhere, and in the end the team lost 4-0. This is why, when thinking about players to sign, we must think carefully. Victor proved that what we really need is another strong midfielder — not just any player because of hype. Do you agree with me? 👀🔥
