Some news: Earlier this year I got offered (and accepted) a place on a DPhil in Biomaterials at Oxford. Unfortunately, even though it was advertised as a funded PhD, I've now found out the funding has gone to someone else. So I'm looking for jobs!

Giving the go-ahead to the huge new Rosebank oil field is choosing to make the Climate Emergency worse Labour could stop this. If they confirm now that they'd rescind the drilling licence in government, funding would dry up and the project would become unviable. Will they do it?

Rosebank's developer will receive an effective taxpayer subsidy worth **£3.75bn** through tax breaks and the loophole in the government’s windfall tax. But most of the oil will be exported so Rosebank will do NOTHING to lower our energy bills. It's a national scandal.

Because we haven't heard anything public from Danaher or Cepheid, I've tried reaching execs there. It hasn't gone great, but they have my phone number and email. They know how to get in touch with MSF. We want to work with them and make this a win for them. The GeneXpert Machine is so awesome--but tests aren't getting to nearly enough people who need them. Improving access isn't easy. I know that. It IS possible--but not if @DanaherCorp and Cepheid think the only response to public pressure is radio silence.

Do we want a world where millions of people go undiagnosed with tuberculosis (and drug-resistant tuberculosis) because they can't afford tests? Or do we want a world where TB is identified, treated, and cured promptly--thus leading to a world where no one dies of TB?

. @DanaherCorp makes 8 billion dollars in annual profits. Much of that profit comes from price-gouging the world's poorest countries for life-saving tuberculosis tests. Danaher has done this in the dark for 13 long years. Today, we shine the light. #PeopleOverProfits

Johnson & Johnson claimed they needed to evergreen their bedaquiline patent to invest in new breakthrough therapies for tuberculosis. Well, @JNJNews just ended all research and development into infectious disease. Despicable to claim R&D and then...abandon R&D.
