In two hours I will be giving a free talk that invites you to imagine that you are Tony Stark (or Your Favorite Genius). It is really about making embedded systems: eventbrite.com/e/public-inven…

nothing. It may be that translation, which in highest quality requires a mastery of the target and source languages, cannot be undertaken by beginners without hubris. But possibly there is some intermediate project? The creation of detailed summaries?

Salve magistra @SaturaLanx_Lat! A question in honor of your birthday, Ms. Regini: What can beginning Latin speakers due to recover/breath live into old texts which are not available in translation, or have not been translated in more than 200 years? Possibly the answer is:

...of manufacturing it at a tiny scale on a microchip for either cooling or lab-on-a-chip applications. But of course everything that @pubinvention does is free-libre open source. This is a gift given freely to the world, the best and least appreciated kind.

Possibly I am just not very bright, but it has been a great struggle to produce a theory explaining it. This is a one-way valve that has NO solid moving parts---it consists only of ferrofluid, a shaped chamber, and a magnet. The economic value is in the possibility...

We have been working on this for more than 2 years, but Joe has been helping me for 6 months. Scientific/engineering research is often frustrating. Although everything is subjective, I think is a true "invention"---not only novel, but perhaps surprising that it is even possible.

Last night with @joe_hershberger we had a great success with our passive ferrofluid check valve invention: first time consistently have a collapse pressure 10 times higher than the cracking pressure. Go here for more: github.com/PubInv/ferrofl…

@paulg I'd attempt to "cheat the rocket equation" by building a system of projectile transfer between a rocket and base to resupply it with reaction mass and energy. Catching the projectiles would be hard, but doable.

Interesting question to ask researchers: what would you be working on if you could get a grant to study anything?
