Concern is growing that Donald Trump plans to re-define the US role in NATO very significantly if he becomes president. Nothing has been said officially, but information is appearing that Trump wants to decrease the US participation and NATO and shift more responsibilities to European countries. One of the most significant changes that might happen is that NATO could refuse to defend its member if their contributions are less than 2% of their GDP. This will basically cancel out the famous NATO Article 5 - Politico. Trump is also reportedly opposed to Ukraine and Georgia joining NATO.
