This morning, I flagged  off the World Press Freedom Day 2026 commemorative walk at UBC Grounds, Kampala, and addressed  the gathering. We join the global community under the theme “Shaping a Future at Peace” and Uganda’s sub-theme “Promoting Press Freedom for Human Rights, Development, and Security in Uganda.” Uganda enjoys one of the most dynamic media environments in the region, with 300+ radio stations, 70+ TV channels, thriving digital platforms, and over 10,000 media practitioners. We note the Constitutional Court judgment of March 17, 2026, and reaffirm that this government respects the rule of law. We call for responsible journalism that avoids hate speech, verifies facts, and contributes to peace, human rights, and national development, while urging law enforcement to respect court rulings.  A free, independent, and responsible press remains key to shaping our future at peace.

As the people of Buikwe, we were honored to welcome His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and distinguished guests for the International Labour Day celebrations held at Nkoyoyo Boarding Primary School in Buikwe District. The President emphasized that wealth and employment are created through productive work, discipline, and the right mindset. He encouraged Ugandans to focus on agriculture and enterprise, even on small pieces of land, while aligning skills and education with the needs of the job market. He also highlighted the importance of retooling, skilling, and making use of government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Uganda Development Bank (UDB) to support productive economic activities. On behalf of the people of Buikwe, we extend our sincere appreciation to all who participated in this important national event. I celebrate all workers for their dedication, resilience, and invaluable contribution to national development, and employers for their leadership, investment, and role in creating opportunities and driving productivity. Why court dismissed Christopher Okello Onyum’s insanity claim.

Justice Alice Komuhangi Khaukha: Christopher Okello attacked and killed defenceless infants and has shown no remorse. I find no reason why I should not sentence him to the maximum penalty.

Its very good for Unity of Leaders, a memorable occasion as the #NRMWomensLeague Executive Leaders we spent a day with the First National Female Vice Chairperson @AnitahAmong, Serving as the Speaker of the Parliament. We shared valuable ideas on potential collaborative efforts to promote our common interests and uphold the core values of women. We thank the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda for hosting us , towards having such a productive meeting as Women leaders, to our grassroot women we stand in solidarity to deliver the best for the benefit of our communities.
