@QUALITYREPSBSBL @CoachBeede @chuckkrause2 Send me the guy that gets outs regardless of velocity. I’ve seen too many “Ball 4s” at 90+. Fill up the zone at 80-83 and just win.

Where do you attend tournaments coach ?? We need to send our kids to those events.. in our experience it’s not Emerson, Marietta, Jupiter, WPB or Fort Myers … lower velo kids that eat innings, get outs and know how to pitch never get asked about in those places…. My sloppy donkey who threw 92 .. couldn’t get out of the 2nd inning and avg 3 HBP per game did get all the love

A college coach once told me the best evaluation tool he owned was the parking lot. He watched how a boy carried his own gear, how he spoke to his mother after an 0 for 4, whether he helped drag the field when nobody asked. Forty years later I do the same thing, and I will tell you what that scout knew: the game between the lines shows me a player. The parking lot shows me the next four years.

A Division III coach cannot offer a dollar of athletic scholarship. What many can offer is harder to see and often worth more. At academic D3 schools the coach can flag your son to admissions as a recruit they want, a real thumb on the scale at a school that turns most applicants away. The aid then comes from need and merit, not sport. No athletic money does not mean no help. Sometimes it is the best help on the table.

It is tournament weekend, and most families have the coach's attention backwards.
Parents film the home run. They film the diving catch. They post the highlight.
A college coach at that same game is watching the at-bat after the strikeout. The walk back to the dugout after the error. The body language in the eighth inning of a long day.
They are not buying the best moment. They are buying the worst one and how your son answered it.
The tournament does not evaluate the play. It evaluates the player between the plays.

Well said @CoachBeede
Coach Beede@CoachBeede
The high school player who gets recruited is rarely the one with the loudest summer. He is the one whose coach answers the phone and says, I would take ten of him. Build that reputation first. The film only confirms what the references already told them.

🌟 Scott Berry 🌟
Scott Berry built one of the most accomplished coaching careers in college baseball over more than three decades in the profession, including 23 seasons at @SouthernMissBSB and 14 as head coach of the Golden Eagles. Berry retired in 2023 as the winningest coach in Southern Miss history with a 528-276-1 (.657) record and guided the program to unprecedented success during his tenure at the helm. Under his leadership, Southern Miss captured five conference regular-season championships, five conference tournament titles, and nine NCAA Tournament appearances, while advancing to NCAA Super Regionals in both 2022 and 2023 and hosting postseason play in Hattiesburg on multiple occasions. He earned Conference USA Coach of the Year honors four times and concluded his career with seven consecutive 40-win seasons, which stood as the longest active streak in Division I baseball at the time of his retirement.
Prior to becoming head coach, Berry spent nine seasons as an assistant and associate head coach at Southern Miss, playing an instrumental role in the program's rise that included its first College World Series appearance in 2009. Earlier in his career, he compiled a 185-58 (.761) record in four seasons as head coach at Meridian Community College, leading the program to two NJCAA World Series appearances and coaching future Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee. Throughout his career, Berry mentored 17 All-Americans, 38 first-team all-conference selections, 38 MLB Draft picks, and four Ferriss Trophy winners while establishing a standard of sustained excellence that helped elevate Southern Miss into one of the nation's most respected and consistent programs and left a lasting impact on the game throughout the state of Mississippi.

Coaching is a rewarding profession, challenging to say the least. Receiving a photo of a former player pursuing a career in coaching is a huge reward. @rbholland32 @Doresdad20
