I couldn’t be more thrilled to tell you that my full length poetry collection, Holy Ghosts, was accepted by @QuerenciaPress for publication. This book grapples with loss, mortality, coming of age, chronic illness, and love— familial, romantic, friendship. I’ll keep you posted!

@fifthwheelpress I’m so, so glad you’re not risking even further damage to your mental health— let alone your physical health, since they’re deeply entwined. xxx. You’re being wise AND brave.

@Victorshi2020 For those saying "do not make this political while the families grieve" I say DO make it political. These shootings happen so often that there is no time to leave the victims and families to grieve before the next shooting happens. Make it political.

Heads up, #writers: Sepia Quarterly is no good. They created a seemingly lovely second issue— then didn’t announce the issue, ignored all messages, & didn’t pay anyone the promised $25 honorarium. Not sure what’s up, but don’t submit your precious work to these folks! Please RT.

@StephanieMonet @ItsjustJp I’m sorry, but you will not hear back. Ever. Just be glad they didn’t “accept” you, post your work online, never pay you the $25 promised, and then disappear. I would un-submit that baby FAST if I were you! There’s zero chance of them being anything but trash, I’m very sorry.

@ItsjustJp @RobinAKinzer Hey - just seeing this. Did you ever end up hearing back from them? They're still on Submittable and I haven't received a response to my submission from months ago.

@StephanieMonet @ItsjustJp No, they’re scam artists— they used my work for a long time while never paying me. I posted this after they’d already been scamming me for months; it’s now been years. For all I know, it’s still up, but I’ve published it 2 other, better places now — and would like to let it go.

@ItsjustJp @StephanieMonet It’s a scam, except they actually made an issue, and I literally can’t medically handle much stress right now, so I’m not going to look — but for a very long time, they kept my poem up without payment. Luckily I’ve now published it 2 other places… but they are scum!

@mooninabucket I think it’s quite ableist to say you must love yourself before you can be loved, as for some folks— esp abuse survivors— that’s a lifelong journey. There’s no harm in dating & having fun as you explore various people, just be sure to explore your own heart & needs deeply too!

Ableism is seeing disabled people’s struggles and inaccessibility as inspiration and gratefulness for not being us rather than helping to improve our situation. Ableism is saying "I will use you as a tool to remind myself that at least I'm not you."

This poem is so good it jolts me every time to be honest. People love to post that one line from it whenever June hits, which I get, but why deprive anyone of the whole thing??

@mooninabucket I’m so, so sorry. You deserve so much more. My heart sits beside yours. My upcoming poetry book is called Holy Ghosts, & very much about being haunted in many ways. My biggest heartbreaks were my two lovers who died, but it doesn’t take death to crack your heart to pieces. Hugs.

My heart is broken. Today I met with the person I’ve loved for more than 2 years, and he told me it was over. He’s met someone else. I am so in shock as to wonder if I’m fully alive right now. So I guess I’ll spend some time wandering, like a ghost.

@NazaretRanea @JusteLiterary Which is all just to say, birds don’t sit in chestnuts these days— but they did a hundred years ago, and they sit in chestnut *oaks* now! Hey— just give it a minute, and actual chestnuts will finally be back, and then your poem won’t have an error! 😊

@NazaretRanea @JusteLiterary Actually, in my scientist dad’s honor, I should mention of another of your (also beautiful) poems: The chestnut tree had a blight 100 years ago. It was my dad’s favorite wood. He sourced old chestnut from dead trees and chicken coops. It’s finally coming back though— SCIENCE!
