Of course, they haven’t hired any additional staff, so now the one person who used to staff the registers, look into self-checkout problems (with an elderly population, rife), and deal with customer inquiries… Now also has to scoop ice cream. What next? Karaoke?

Over the summer, it seems our pharmacy has added… an ice-cream counter? Even more oddly, it’s replaced most of the cash registers, so that now along one wall, there are: - three self-checkouts; - the ice cream (self consciously Olde-Timey); and - one (!) actual register.
