@MrsGreenfccps When asked what can we do to help teachers feel safe & supported, it's hard to hear "nothing." (admitting that in my mind I see arms crossed, heels dug in.) I sincerely want to understand what's really going on here. Will keep trying! Thanks for engaging. My cookies are calling!

@RobinCamarote PS I'd feel remiss if I didn't say that, speaking for myself alone, I don't personally know any staff member who feels or has felt pressured by colleagues to return, or not return, or to stop eating thin mints, or to do anything they don't want to do.

"Open Schools" groups: You need teachers. The most productive thing you could do for the success of your cause (& your community) is figure out how to get teachers on board. Hint: it's not threatening them or calling them names.

@MrsGreenfccps I'd love to host a listening session (teachers talking, parents listening with no name calling or blaming.) We need teachers to be truthful with us and themselves about their concerns.

@RobinCamarote Hi Robin! It’s not going to be easy. Parts probably won’t be pretty. I don’t see how we can do anything but do whatever we can to demonstrate that we want to understand each other, that we’ll treat each other with respect and dignity...

@MrsGreenfccps ...and collaboration. The conversation feels intractable right now with so much negativity.

If you find that teachers in your area have concerns, listen to them. Believe them. Figure out how you can help. Helping teachers helps students. You and your school system's staff share a goal: do the best thing for kids. This is one way to get there.

@MrsGreenfccps ...that either they're being pressured by colleagues to resist going back and/or there is much more to this than not feeling safe. I suspect it's a more deep seeded lack of trust. So my question is- how do we have an honest conversation with the intent of greater understanding...

@MrsGreenfccps Hi Mrs. Green! Thank you for this. I write back with respect and sincere curiosity (and a sleeve of Thin Mints, but whatever). The response I got from our kids' amazing teachers was essentially, "thanks for asking. we're good." Which leads me to believe...
