@ndabrams By PI status alone then yes, but of course the PI could be who is writing the paper

It's just been explained that it's widely understood that project leader is in last position. Is that right?

What’s the etiquette for the order of names on a multiply-authored paper arising from a grant bid?

An important day exploring global connections of Welsh copper to slavery and empire @corinne_fowler @rcccymru @BLMCymru @BHCymru365
Corinne Fowler@corinne_fowler

Today historian Dr.@mariangwyn showed me Parys Mountain & told me the history of copper, smelted into manillas, ingots & other items to exchange for enslaved Africans. Amlwych Port was also part of the global slavery system: copper out, sugar/tobacco & other commodities in

With relevance to #Brexit, we suggest that English nationalist and Eurosceptic elites achieve resonance with older, white, English people's anxieties over a perceived softening of national boundaries and the need to re-affirm these boundaries.

We show how actors make discursive connections between everyday concerns (standing on your own two feet, taking responsibility), political boundaries ( border/immigration control, governing yourself), and historical ideas about ‘Britain standing alone’ in the world.

Very pleased to have contributed with Steve Fenton to this special issue of Anthropological Notebooks devoted to the 50th anniversary of Fredrik Barth’s ‘Ethnic groups and boundaries’. Available open access: drustvo-antropologov.si/AN/2019_1_eng.…

@DavidKnowlesy @CLeddyOwen Yes the distinction is important. I don’t buy the left behind thesis. I think we underestimate how important a sense of national belonging is, for all kinds of politics

As @CLeddyOwen in his book has rightly argued the role of nationalism has not been properly attended to within Brexit analyses

@LobsterMagazine @tcgriffin Full blown political English nationalism is a matter for debate and there is a difference between nationalism “proper” and popular nationalist sentiments in my view. But I would argue that the tories now are the closest they have been to being an English nationalist party.

The perception of Tory as English is a factor in those cases

Eg references to values and social conservatism have been made in relation to winning/losing Labour “heartlands”. But Tories didn’t win the Labour heartlands in S Wales nor the former in Scotland

@RobinMann01 @tcgriffin Is there a real English nationalism, though? Outside a rabble like the EDL the answer looks like no. Even the most overtly right-wing nationalist party on the scene is the British NP. But there is a sense of Britain as a union run by England. England is the UK's "holy ghost."

1 Given the strength of Scottish Indy and the emergent Welsh Indy as responses to the rise of right wing English nationalism, there is the question of whether a progressive English nationalism might emerge.
