I'm very lucky to have a job that involves close encounters with wildlife, including handling animals, & to sometimes be able to share this. Importantly, this work is done by trained staff with the required permits + following procedures to ensure animal welfare is maintained. 👇
Robin Sinclair@RobinSSci

As with all the footage I post from work: animals are handled by or under the supervision of trained staff for monitoring/research purposes, with the required permits & animal ethics approvals in place. Handling is kept to the minimum required to collect monitoring data.

@metrotrains Shout out to the person doing the announcements on platform 8/9 when this was going on: clear and frequent updates and just a hint of well-warranted exasperation reflecting the general mood at the station 🙂

Born to ride the Metro Tunnel, forced to ride the #10 bus from Casuarina to Darwin City. (Happy Metro Tunnel day to all those celebrating - I'm only a little bit jealous)

Our photographer, Brad Leue, says that Mt Gibson is one of few places where visiting just feels like Christmas. Hear his experiences snapping the sanctuary 👉 bit.ly/AWC-WPD25

Last week we conducted the first deliberate release of Woylies outside the predator-proof fenced area at Mt Gibson. I'm incredibly proud to have been part of this project which has been years in the making and is a major milestone for AWC's species reintroduction program.

Woylies (Brush-tailed Bettongs) have been released OUTSIDE the feral predator-free fence at Mt Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary in WA. The is the first predation-size species to make the move in an attempt to reestablish populations beyond the fence. More 👉 bit.ly/AWC-Woylies_Be…

Results are in for our annual mammal survey at Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary. Of the 580 animals caught over just four nights, 455 were Woylies! High capture rates across species offer valuable data on how wildlife are tracking—especially after recent drought years.

Was out the back of my house and heard a loud whooshing sounds. Looked up just in time to see this peregrine take down a grey teal mid-flight. Bad day to be a teal.

A wee personal update: I'm moving to Darwin! After three wonderful years at Mt Gibson, it's time for a change of scenery. I'll still be working for AWC as a Field Ecologist, but I'll be working across the properties and partnerships in the Top End. 🌞🐊
