Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence was playing this morning on Radio 3 - such an iconic soundtrack from Ryuichi Sakamoto. It was a year ago today Ryuichi died, but his spirit lives on in this emotive theme…..beautiful!

Such very sad news. Gone far too soon but her voice will live on in her spirit and the music she gifted to us all… An unusual, fragile persona in the crazy world of the music business

Simply The Best! legend in the history of popular music who courageously faced challenges beyond measure in and out of the limelight. It was a privilege to spend some precious time with Tina Turner; the inspirational icon and Tina Turner a woman of warmth and wisdom.

That was a busy weekend and I want to thank the BMG team headed by Stuart Paterson who mined my archives to find something special for Record Store Day. Not forgetting all the stores who promoted the event to meet the enthusiasm of the punters!

What’s happening indeed? Today we lose Seymour Stein the great impresario who opened so many doors to so many careers from the Undertones to Madonna. He appeared In Aquarium Studios in Paris when I was mixing Pop Muzik. He had the scent for success on Sire Records R.I.P.

Ryuichi Sakamoto 17. 1.52 - 28.3.23 “Ars longa, vita brevis”

I just learned we’ve lost Ryuichi Sakamoto, a major force in World music. I feel privileged to have been a part of his journey having worked together with him and Yukihiro Takahashi, both former members of YMO. With love I recall being drawn to Ryuichi’s warm invitation to Tokyo.

The passing of an extraordinary woman in every possible way. Her portrait blessed so many homes and hearts throughout our lives making history with an engaging smile wherever she went. Long may her spirit reign within all those who loved and adored her.

I trust Nazanin will be receiving serious compensation for being a pawn in another geopolitical board game. She is also deserving of recognition for having being made to sacrifice precious years with her family. Over to the ‘party’ brigade at number 10 #FreeNazanin

I fear we’re heading for a standoff. Putins inner circle appears to have no moral compass. Things could very easily spin out of control with Finland emerging as a safe haven potentially becoming NATO member on the Russian border. This won’t go down well in the Kremlin.

How can this man, who is blatantly murdering civilians, maintain the USSR and Ukraine are 1 country? If so, why on Earth destroy the lives of your brothers & sisters in this senseless geopolitical board game? Putin, like Stalin is casting shame & darkness on the Russian people.

Oligarchs are a product of Putins corrupt regime and they should pledge their fortunes towards healing the Ukrainian devastation ordered by the murderous head of the Russian State.
