@JohnSmi21372434 Our national democracy is not unlimited democracy, it's a liberal democracy (democracy bound by liberal principles - the right to life, liberty and property) But they just make metaphysical points about the nature of the working class to justify why they won't draw any red lines

Find the attempts to make this a class thing baffling. The very middle class Seamus Milne holds extremely cranky views which made his position under Corbyn controversial.
Restoration@leftrestoration

Thank you for proving our point Oz. Working class people can't get represented in Labour because middle class people don't trust them and only want to let them in if they follow rules about gender, foreign conflicts, immigration etc. that they weren't in the room to write.

Yesterday we had a conversation where we told people on twitter that our group wants to see more working class people joining Labour. Part of this means emphasising the importance of other things than foreign policy to a persons life: family, work, community. 98% of Britain doesn't use twitter the way the terminally online do, and Labour is hundreds of thousands of paying members smaller than it was in the post war era when our party had widespread working class support. Along with being called Putin sympathisers, the responses to this "dogma" included questions like: 'what if they are violent convicts' 'what if they are Nazis' 'what if they are peadophiles' 'what if they are rapists'. If our stated aim was to get more middle class people into Labour, would we be asked things like this?
fpl-dont-talk-to-the-locals@Robobosaurus2

@leftrestoration Its just pure dogma A working class person with 47 violent convictions, or with a swastika tattooed on there forehead should not be behind the wheel no... Yes these are rare edge cases, but we're watching you sweep for such an edge case now and it's telling

@AndyBurnhamFC It raises a big question about what we stand for as a party Its not enough to just be pro worker, the things she's saying are not compatible with liberal democracy, I'm pro big tent, it's a very low bar she keeps tripping over tho...

@AndyBurnhamFC I think being this uneducated is a form of contempt for the electorate She's not a bloke down the pub, she's earns a very good living being a polition and she owes it to her constituency to be informed on the basic facts on such topics Labour should draw a hard line on this

As much as I disagree with what she's saying, being uneducated on foreign policy isn't a crime and I don't think it should be a suspendible offence. It'd be worth talking to some of these people on the matter rather than just demonising them and vindicating Starmer
Ukraine Solidarity Campaign 🇺🇦✊🏽🚩@UkraineSol

We hadn't seen this. It's Diane Abbott MP at the "peace conference" in London last month, calling the Russian war on Ukraine "the NATO campaign against Russia". She lists a series of acts of imperial aggression and violence and concludes it with that appalling description 🧵

We will work with momentum if it came to a selection panel and we needed their votes for a working class Labour candidate, but we have no endorsement from Momentum. Oz is clearly an egotist, anyone who could put Ukrainian lives in front of their own image would be able to see it's better for pro NATO people to have two restoration candidates over two momentum candidates on labours NEC, but it seems Oz s priority is building his twitter image.

What Oz fails to understand with this outburst is that Labour members have two choices for 8th and 9th place on the NEC - either Restoration or Momentum. If he were truly thinking this through, he'd look through Momentum's history of anti-West foreign policy and realise who's the better option. But it's classic modern politics to virtue signal first and ask questions later.
Oz Katerji@OzKaterji

If you are a supporter of Ukraine in the Labour Party, do not under any circumstances vote for the (@LeftRestoration) slate including Stella Tsantekidou for the NEC. They have made it very clear that they will not be reliable pro-Ukraine allies if elected.

Stella's analysis of the real danger that someone as marginalised from Labours mainstream as Diane Abbot is true. She isn't going to influence the party on Ukraine. If you use this spurious fear mongering to argue we have identical tendencies towards defence and NATO as Momentum we can't but conclude you were never interested in our work to begin with.

@leftrestoration No my argument is that you pull up chairs for them at the table, and sweep for them, whist trying to tell people your not them Thats a hard message to sell 'were not them on this topic, but we also refuse to hard line of this topic, and think momentum aren't that bad'

There is always a reason now, found wihin organisations that were originally founded on the basis of social class, to exclude working class people. Behind every argument is the simple fact that too many default to the idea that working class people can't be trusted at the wheels of power and so ever more tests are created before working class people can be represented in the organisation they founded for themselves. What if they don't have the right idea about the Middle East? What if they don't have the right ideas about Europe? What if they don't understand gender issues? What if they don't understand this war, or that sexual identity? In doing this there is always an implicit mistrust of someone's ability to have a moral understanding of the world because they don't do a high status job. We are against that prejudice and we will always be against that idea and we will always trust working class people to make moral decisions well.

Diane Abbott is 72 and is not going to be in the cabinet—nor, in all likelihood, in a future frontline position for the Labour Party. This is an easy, more or less costless gesture that Andy Burnham can make to the party's left.
Sam Rushworth MP@SamJRushworth

Utterly disgraceful comment. I admire how Diane's trailblazed politics for black women and many of her contributions over the years including on Assisted Suicide, but her view on Ukraine is wrong and totally unacceptable in Labour. @andyburnham must not give this view the whip

@leftrestoration @btharris93 And that is typically the case But the question at hand is what to do when a working classing person in the party starts spouting conspiratorial nonsense But that's why you won't address what was said, you have to get meta physical about the nature of the working class instead
