🔸Nobody hates South Africa. Everybody hates xenophobia. If hate watching a mere soccer match causes this much hurt, imagine the hurt that comes with watching your compatriots being treated inhumanely because of their nationality or the colour of their skin in another African nation? What we have observed over the last few days is that that hurt can’t be switched off just because a soccer match is on. People carry it within their souls. Hearts bleed. So the aggrieved will protest in solidarity with those who are being attacked in an effort to make a statement. This is sometimes the only way people have to express how pained they are by the inhumanity they’re witnessing on African soil. We never ever saw Nelson Mandela throwing stones at Kwame Nkrumah, Samora Machel and Julius Nyerere so what is this now? We need new leaders.🇿🇼

This engagement benefits more than just the party, it benefits everyone involved, the Advisor wanted him to stop criticising the President, but by so doing our Central Committee member Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei, and all, will also benefit, havachatukwe... If Rutendo stops the criticism, then all those linked to the matter will also stop being insulted. The fact that he is now willing to apologise shows we are reaching the goal we all wanted from the beginning. Pamberi ne engagement 👏👏

On Matinyarare's issue, All that was needed was to honour the debt they had agreed on. Remember, Matinyarare was on our side until he realised the money he was promised was not coming. That’s when he changed. If everything had been settled, he would have been quiet. Instead, he escalated until he started attacking the President, and everyone stayed silent. Yet you had the capacity to sit him down and resolve this amicably at a round table. That’s all he wanted. Now that an advisor has stepped in and done what you failed to do, you’re making noise left, right and centre... mutikwanire imi!!! Kana cde akapanduka, munogara naye pasi kuti chii chirikunetsa cde... monzwaka nyaya yaita musoro uteme... but as for Matinyarare he was clear, he didn't hide his reasons dzekupanduka, saka mairegerei kuzvigadzirisa, so that we have less noise in the streets...

Dr Paul T Tungwarara @paultungwarara has publicly supported #CAB3 and he stood with President Mnangagwa zvekudaro. His loyalty to President Mnangagwa is UNQUESTIONABLE . Him engaging @matinyarare is from a good heart and a good gesture . Others like Mliswa and Maponga tried and failed to engage with a renage Rutendo until the Advisor PUBLICLY Engaged with Rutendo and gave him an offer which shows that Rutendo was a disgruntled person who opposed because of hunger and he felt sidelined that he did work and wasn't paid for. So kudos to the Advisor the only person who managed to silence Rutendo. All these engagements were done publicly .

At least now we know the person pushing the “you are owed” money nonsense. Rutendo is owed nothing, millions of Zimbabweans went out of the way to protest against sanctions. The President u claim to love is still on sanctions after all. You are promoting kak behaviour just you need to be called out. Politics is about fair criticism and rational opposition, crude attacks are unacceptable and at the very least, should be punishable not rewarded.
Dr P Tungwarara, Presidential Advisor@paultungwarara

We cannot tolerate a system wherein we passively observe individuals disparaging the President under the pretext of claiming outstanding dues. If we must go out of our way to settle these grievances for the greater good of our leader, thereby silencing this unproductive noise and redirecting our collective focus toward national development rather than daily propaganda and recordings—then so be it. A significant number of individuals have already overcome their past grievances to return to the fold, pledging their support to ZANU-PF and the President, with some even crossing over from the opposition. Ultimately, our success depends entirely on how we engage with those who have not yet embraced the President’s vision, ensuring they are integrated into our collective march toward 2030. My purpose is not to fuel social media hostility against the presidency; rather, I am resolute in my commitment to intercept and neutralize these attacks by any means necessary. It is far better that public scrutiny be redirected toward me than to permit the entire nation to be distracted by baseless assaults on the President, particularly when these matters can be swiftly resolved by addressing the minor financial claims in question. Thank you, and have a blessed Sunday.

A few months ago, I did say that a referendum is coming. The judges have clearly told President Mnangagwa that CAB3 will not go through without a referendum, and so did the Army chiefs. As a result, they are now preparing minds for a referendum. If they go for a referendum and carry it out fairly — without intimidation and by allowing those opposed to the Bill to campaign — they will see less resistance from people like me.

@daddyhope @RobsonMashiri The Drafters of COPAC were naive to leave a loop-hole that could be exploited by the ruling party that 2yrs is not a term. This is a pitfall even shrewed lawyers would find it a hard nut to crack.

The real problem is that General Constantino Chiwenga allowed Emmerson Mnangagwa to remove the running mate clause through Constitutional Amendment No. 2 in 2021, @RobsonMashiri. Mnangagwa is a long-distance runner. He plans his moves carefully and, whether we like him or not, we have to acknowledge that. He knew exactly what he wanted before the 2023 election, which is why he supported the removal of the running mate clause. The running mate clause meant that a President and Vice President were elected together on the same ticket, making it impossible for the President to simply dismiss the Vice President. Similar systems have worked elsewhere in the region. Malawi is a good example. When President Bingu wa Mutharika died in office, constitutional provisions ensured that Vice President Joyce Banda succeeded him despite attempts to sideline her politically. Allowing the removal of the running mate clause was Chiwenga’s first major mistake. As a result, he now serves as Vice President entirely at the pleasure of Emmerson Mnangagwa. He is appointed, not elected. That means he can also be removed. If Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 becomes law, it will further consolidate Mnangagwa’s control over the succession process. In practical terms, Chiwenga could be dismissed and replaced by another Vice President, something that would have been far more difficult under the running mate system. That is why this Bill is not really about Chiwenga biding his time and waiting for his turn. It is about eliminating him as a serious constitutional contender for the presidency. Once the Bill becomes law, Mnangagwa will have even greater room to reshape the political landscape in his favour. He could remove Chiwenga and appoint someone else, and that possibility is precisely why the battle over Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 has become so significant for Chiwenga and his allies.
Robson Mashiri@RobsonMashiri

@daddyhope Chiwenga's only problem on that bill will be the delay caused by the 2year extension. He just needs to up his game and not end up being fired by ED.

Zimbabwean parliamentarians resumed debate on the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 today at 9:30 am for a second day of deliberations. Seventy Members of Parliament are pencilled in to contribute to the debate. Among its most controversial provisions, the Bill seeks to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term of office by an additional two years and to increase future presidential terms from five years to seven years. The names ticked on this speaking list are those of non-ZANUPF Members of Parliament scheduled to participate in the debate. If the Bill is passed, it will mark one of the most significant constitutional changes since the adoption of Zimbabwe’s 2013 Constitution. The Bill has also created a growing standoff between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and a group of retired military generals who have publicly condemned it on at least two occasions. The generals met Mnangagwa and expressed their opposition to the proposed changes, with the President said to have responded that whoever wins the battle over the Bill will win. The stakes could not be higher. If Mnangagwa signs the Bill into law, it would effectively extinguish the presidential ambitions of Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga, the man who led the 2017 military coup that brought Mnangagwa to power. By replacing direct presidential elections with a system in which the President is elected by Parliament, the Bill would fundamentally alter Zimbabwe’s political landscape. Given the constituency boundaries established during the last delimitation exercise, which increased the ruling party’s advantage in Parliament, such a system would also make it significantly more difficult for any opposition leader to realistically secure the presidency through the parliamentary route.

@mamoe0 @daddyhope Very sad indeed and currently with limited choices. He can resign in protest and ignite a mass uprising get the people behind him and end ED's rule or wait for 2030 whilst he maneuvers the party and public political terrain. He can also go public that he is against this bill.

I met Linda Masarira in person ONLY once @ Globe Trotter, Old Mazowe Road. She was with her husband. They had stopped over for some lagers. We exchanged pleasantaries. Over the years I warmed up to her after listening to her speak at various forums, the Twitter spaces etc. She was as sharp as they come. Zimbabwe's political discourse is poorer in her abscence. To the myopic in our midst who are celebrating her demise over perceived political differences, remember the Latin aphorism "media vita in morte sumus" (in the midst of life, we're in death), in short everyone born of a woman has an expiry date on earth. Infact, it is said WE BEGIN DYING THE DAY WE ARE BORN! Your time will come too but be remembered for sonething other than your carbon footprint! Linda ran her race. And she is survived by a family, including 5 children, spare a thought for them. Go vent your frustrations somewhere where they do not come across your nonsense!
