Marriage carries profound social, legal, and economic significance. Until disabled people can freely exercise this right, the promise of marriage equality remains unfinished.

True marriage equality requires dismantling these barriers—through reforms to benefits programs, guardianship laws, and institutional practices, as well as cultural change.
