The highest court of law in New York State ruled in favor of the @nyclu in its case against the City of Rochester. In 2020, NYCLU filed a foil request for Rochester Police Department records of disciplinary actions. The City of Rochester delayed the release of these records, citing the volume and need for review. The NYS Court of Appeals decision affirms the lower courts ruling that misconduct records of law enforcement officers are public regardless of whether they are deemed substantiated. The PAB will continue to post our completed investigatory reports into misconduct allegations against RPD officers to our website, rocpab.org, each month.

HAPPENING TODAY AT 3: The New York State Court of Appeals will hear arguments in the case of New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) v. City of Rochester. A ruling in NYCLU's favor could enhance our ability to access and use RPD records to further our investigations and policy recommendations. The hearing begins at 3 p.
