This is Mark Ashton, chairman of Ipswich Town. On 23rd March, invited by the club, Nigel Farage attended a lunch and subsequent tour of the ground. As pathetic as this embarrassing apology is, note one thing. The fear. The sheer terror in Mark Ashton’s eyes as he desperately scrambles to apologise. It’s this control we should be worried about, not politicians.

Those arrogant lefty scumbags on TWTD still calling for Mark Ashton to be sacked for hosting an elected MP. Yet seemingly perfectly happy for Starmer to stay in post despite promoting a corrupt paedophile in Mandelson. #itfc

This is what the Ipswich–Farage row is really about. Nigel Farage and Reform UK are surging in Suffolk, and the left can’t stomach it. Yet Ipswich Town owners can hand out perks to Keir Starmer’s circle without a whisper. The double standard isn’t subtle. It’s blatant.

@Bren4Bassetlaw Farage went onto make political propaganda whist at the club. Having a person who goes against everything the football club stands visit, diversity, inclusion, anti racism, community, disability make me sick to my stomach. So wipe away those tears and stop being a wet wipe wipe

This is getting ridiculous. I visited numerous football clubs during my time and many Labour politicians also do this regularly- including various campaign launches. It’s a normal part of politics. Never back down to the left’s bullying, because they will never be satisfied.

@karentaylor2100 Shame on you for supporting Farage who undermines everything I thought our football clubs stands for! Diversity, inclusion, anti racism and community. Farage and Reform stand for none of those values they only wish to spread division and hatred. Shame on you #💙

The most surprising thing is that I’m not even surprised by this now. We have created a culture in which, when we feel offended or hurt, it’s automatically the other person’s fault, rather than taking accountability for our own thoughts and feelings. We must stop apologising for actions that do not cause offence!

This whole saga reeks of corporate pressure. No chairman voluntarily apologises for something this trivial unless sponsors are in his ear. The club did nothing wrong. Inviting Nigel Farage to a football stadium isn’t controversial, it’s normal. Apologising for it sets a terrible precedent.

@BenGrahamUK He's really apologising to woke sponsors and not Ipswich fans.
