The children carried out an investigation to test which materials were the most effective to create a black out in ww2. We classified transparent, translucent and opaque materials. We then wrote up our investigation and decided which material was the most effective.
This week as part of science week we have been looking at and exploring the life cycle of a frog. We first visited the pond to check what the wildlife looked like and we observed frogspawn and lots of frogs.🐸
A fabulous special mentions assembly sharing our big questions from science week. Exploring our investigations and our findings. Each class shared their learning with everyone which was wonderful to see. A huge thank you to Miss Thompson for organising our science week.
Happy birthday Mrs Hetherington, we hope you’ve had a wonderful day celebrating with us. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your celebrations.

Investigating objects that float and sink. The floating and sinking investigation allowed the children to explore how different objects behave in water. The children demonstrated curiosity making simple predication's and helped develop early vocabulary such as “float” and “sink”.
This week our question to investigate was – Can you move a paper clip without touching it?. The children came up with lots of ideas including: using tools, blowing on them and using magnets. We investigated with magnets to see how attraction can make the paperclip move.
During Science Week, we have been learning about the different stages of the life cycle of a butterfly. The children immersed themselves in practical, hands-on learning using a range of physical resources. They created butterfly life cycle headbands and then made cycles.
During the Dig for Victory campaign in World War II, people were encouraged to grow food in gardens, parks and allotments. Soil quality affected how well plants grew. We will try to show which is the better growing condition, soil or cotton wool for growing cress for our Science.
6B Morse Code in the Forest School
We started our session with a visit to the pond area to look at the spring life. We looked at the frog/toad spawn and the frogs and discussed the life cycle to recall teaching from previous year groups when younger.
Our hammocks are in and our children love them already. A wonderful way to self regulate and reflect. We can’t wait to use them as part of our SEMH strategy and ELSA work. Smiley faces and snuggly.
We had a fantastic time in Y6 today at our TTRockstars morning. We looked at how times tables link into every element of SATs. We held a sample arithmetic session with adult participation and enjoyed a few games to finish off.
Today the children enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to Manor Lodge, where they took part in an immersive, research-based experience exploring Tudor life and the fascinating story of Mary, Queen of Scots. Learning about how people lived during the Tudor period.

3T have began our investigation linking to British Science Week, where we are enquiring about the question “Where does rain come from?”, linking back to the science week theme of curiosity, what is your question? We began looking at the water cycle and how water travels.
A huge thank you Mrs Rawson for redeveloping our sensory room, what a beautiful place for our children to enjoy. I think the teachers will enjoy this too. A calming atmosphere created just for our children. ☺️ 🧘♀️
