@dreamcaster17 @guyfelicella No. Even for medical purposes, given the known dangers of opiates, a person is stupid if they don't consider possible alternatives. If you're referring to coping w/trauma, etc, it's another excuse. Millions suffer trauma & dont choose to cope by sticking a needle in their arm

101: HOW TO IDENTIFY A POVERTY PORN GRIFTER 1. They dehumanize people dealing with mental health, homelessness and addiction issues by calling them “zombies” or “crackies.” 2. They always misidentify the cause of the drug crisis as liberal/NDP policy decisions - with bonus points for naming a politician. They never mention the ACTUAL cause: fentanyl in the illicit drug supply (true throughout Canada & the U.S., under both conservative and liberal governments). 3. They film and photograph people in crisis as if they’re viewing animals in the zoo. 4. They fundraise off their exploitative content. Like instead of helping the vulnerable people they’re using for clicks and engagement, they ask viewers to donate to THEM with their “buy me a coffee” link. Need an example? @KatKanada_TM and her video from yesterday 👉 prize-winning grifting. Cruel, self-absorbed and completely gross. 🤢

@avilewis So tiresome. The fact is, absolutely nothing gets built or moves without fossil fuels, including all things renewable. This war has just proved that once again, & Canada is extremely lucky to have an abundance of what the world absolutely needs and we need to expand and diversify

Trump and Netanyahu’s reprehensible attacks on Iran have already sent oil prices soaring.  And the pain won’t stop at the pump. Soon, high oil prices will cause another inflation crisis: raising the already extreme cost of feeding, clothing, and housing your family.  Fossil fuels are driving both the climate and cost-of-living crises, all while oil giants cash in on war with hundreds of billions in windfall profits. There has never been a clearer case for embracing renewable energy.  Nobody ever bombed a storage tank full of sunlight, or fought a war for the wind.

An Indigenous Albertan just said this straight up: Her people are living in poverty. The leaders speaking for them don’t even live on the reserves. There’s no accountability. And she says corruption is part of the problem. That’s why she supports Alberta independence. This is a perspective you’re not hearing. 👇 Full interview: youtu.be/sxSiebccQLM Thank you @Kdrocks11 for sharing your story.

@guyfelicella BS. Majority don't seek treatment & those who do, society must wait until "they are ready". Law abiding, hard working people who contribute positively to society, deserve a safe, peaceful community free of tent cities, filth, violence, crime & hunched over zombies on our streets

Wrong! Supervised consumption sites are part of the continuum of care. They keep people alive so they can access treatment. And let's stop misleading the public: many people on methadone or other treatments still use street drugs. The difference is whether they use alone or somewhere they can survive an overdose. With a toxic drug supply, using alone isn't recovery policy. It's a death sentence.
Danielle Smith@ABDanielleSmith

The evidence is confirming what we have said from the beginning: drug injection sites are not the answer. Addiction demands real intervention, real treatment and real compassion, not more places for people to stay trapped in crisis. The Alberta Model will continue to focus on recovery, healing and helping people reclaim their lives. Read the full article here: nationalpost.com/opinion/derek-…

The rhetoric we’re hearing from BC Conservatives and OneBC on First Nations issues right now echoes some of the arguments used by BC Liberals while in Opposition in the late 1990s. Many people will remember the appeals to “One Law for All” during the debate over the Nisga’a agreement. (I remember opposing that argument at the time, even though I was a member of the BC Liberal Party.) But something interesting happened after the Liberals formed government. Premier Gordon Campbell and Attorney General Geoff Plant quickly discovered that governing in British Columbia requires a serious and respectful relationship with First Nations. They moved toward negotiated reconciliation and modern treaties. The question now is whether today’s opposition will go through the same evolution. We know that OneBC won't. But would the BC Conservatives? How would a “Premier Caroline Elliott,” for example, manage the Province's relationship with First Nations after everything she has been saying to date? Would she evolve the way Campbell and Plant ultimately did? Or would British Columbia be headed for a major cycle of conflict? One way or another, this is one of the most important issues facing our province today.

.@gavindew I invite you to see this from an anti-oppression lens. Misogyny: hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women. Prejudice: an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics.
Kelly Greene@KellyRichmondBC

This is how the BC Conservatives characterize women Ministers in the Cabinet. Happy International Women’s Week to everyone except Gavin Dew I guess.

Alberta is the economic powerhouse of Canada. Over the last year we’ve added 85,000 jobs – more than nine times the number added by the next highest-growth province. Can you imagine what’s in store with the oil production cap and net zero power regulations finally gone. This is the Alberta advantage at work: hard working people, abundant resources, a strong private sector and a government focused on creating the conditions for success. We will keep fighting to make sure Alberta remains the best place in Canada to live, work and build a future.
