@Soteriology101 So can Calvinists. God hardened our hearts by letting us go. He simply does the opposite.

Provisionists can absolutely affirm this statement when it comes to apologetic arguments being used to convince an already hardened heart of stone, but we would not assume (as some Augustinians do) that the heart is innately a hardened stone from birth (Heb 3:15). Further, the Holy Spirit works by means of the preaching and apologetic ministries of His church. Thus, when those means are successful in converting the lost the Spirit should be given credit for the use of His given means (ie “The Spirit of the Eternal speaks through me; His voice emerges from my mouth. 2 Sam 2:23). If those means are not successful in the conversion of any particular hardened heart, it is not due to a lacking or insufficiency of the Holy Spirit’s chosen means, but is solely the fault of the one doing the suppressing of truth (see Acts 28:23-28).
